    Re: One for Barry

You posted this comment in quotation marks and stated that it was not just you and I who had an opinion on this parable:

It's a parable of 'spin' and theft of credit the Labour party would be proud of."

So you see, not just your interpretation and mine, but a myriad of them.
You now seem to be claiming that it is you who made up this quote:

    You haven't answered.

You have now accused TF of talking like a 'religious nutjob'. She asked you to define a 'religious nutjob' (you keep complaining you haven't been allowed your own definitions - here's your chance) and quote her posts which back up that accusation.

How about a little wager on how often in total he says 'That's textbook intolerance, that is' instead of answering a question?

Another wager on when he gives up and goes for the - *sigh* *shrug* 'understand now? I could explain everything but I can't be bothered. My work here is done' - rubbish.

You know, in much the same way, I could steal Brad Pitt away from the total sex bomb that is Angelina Jolie - but I can't be bothered.

If only you weren't lost in that quagmire of contradiction...

Obviously, I could, if I weren't hoisted by my own petard...

Out of interest Isis, in your vast, clinical experience, are there none so blind as those who will not see?

Boy, you two should re-read this page when the red mist lifts. LOL.

Is it some kind of name calling convention for ten year olds where you are or something ?

I guess I have to leave you to stew in your own tripe.

    Game, set and match?

Think I owe you £20 Isis. Maybe we could double or quits on whether he quotes any 'name calling'? I'm going for 'nay' on this occasion.

How would you know how to identify the intellectual high ground?

While the intellectual low ground is populated by people who continually pretend they understand what's going on but can't be bothered explaining it.

why would these people not bother to explain that they're pretending not to understand ?

You could make a similar argument about, oh, racism. E.g. 'as long as they aren't active racists, they aren't harming anyone'. But that still leaves racism itself open to criticism.

    Easy

If you’re pretending not to understand something by explaining what you don’t understand surely this leads some people to think you really understand what you pretend not to understand and are just being pedantic?

If you really don’t understand what you pretend not understand you could argue the word pretend is not required as part of the understanding as it doesn’t exist, understand is there pretend is not?

My understanding is it’s difficult to explain why you would pretend not to understand something you do understand in a way that shows you don’t really understand (pretending of course)

So to understand something and pretend you don’t and then explain their pretending not to understand something they do is hard to put into words?

Who said that religion isn't open to criticism?

Racism, being a hatred of people for no reason other than their race, isn't good, in any way. There are no plus points to it. It does nothing but harm. Do you want to argue differently?
