On a slightly darker note - who remebers what I think is about the best British thriller ever put on TV?
Edge of Darkness....
I remember that!... a young Joanne Whalley (Later to be Joanne Whalley Kilmer) Plutonium in Gleneagles, and black flowers
Armchair theatre... the Nun in the Attic !! now THAT was scary !
and WHAT, pray, is wrong with being a geek?
Most of you will not have seen the brilliant video to David Lee Roth's version of Just a gigolo. It's hilarious.
The relevance is that it is set in a TV studio, with DLR as the presenter. It starts off with a cod-interview section which ends up with a sort of channel-ident bit finishing with DLR shouting "...on DA-A-AVE TV!!!" (David Lee Roth - geddit?)
That was - 20 years ago? And now there really is a Dave TV.
Hugh Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub.
And speaking of Dibble - "OK, TC - what's going on here?" "Well hullo, Officer Dibble! How nice of you to drop by!"
there was a scary dracula film on when we were kids, most scary thing i ever watched, cant remember for the life of me what it was called. It was over two parts i think.. my brother was so scared he dived behind the settee when this dracula thing sat up all of a sudden on the screen. anyone have any clue?
Actually it's Pugh , Pugh.. Twin brothers. Bany McGrew is the only one with his forename.

Before your time (literally).
Edge of Darkness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I mainly remember it for a marvellously-OTT performance from Joe Don Baker as a CIA agent.
It's dated well - some of the issues it raised (Gaia / environmentalism, loony right-wing American politicos) are even more relevant now than then.
But the absolute best political TV series of the 1980s was Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister - it's almost difficult to believe how relevant it still is, 25 years on. And how much it now looks like a documentary rather than a satirical comedy...
Ah .. he's here already.. no wonder it's spreading out to his Heh heh thread !!
Indeed and David McCallum too. Freaky Sci-fi madness.
"All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic, heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available: Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel. Sapphire and Steel have been assigned."
I bought my daughter the complete Trumpton, Chigley and Camberwick Green. She watched them for 5 minutes and said "this is really boring".
Kids today!!!!!
I liked Mr. Benn, Bod, The Mister Men, Animal Crackers, Bagpuss, Swap Shop, The Muppet Show, Play School, Playaway.....
how old is your daughter ? My daughter was not too bothered by Trumpton either but she is only 2. She loves the Muppet Show though , so do i of course, its far better than most "adult" tv nowadays Compare "Big Brother" and "The Muppet Show"...er...no contest
Tikkabilla is almost exactly like Play Away and she likes that too.
She's nearly 9 now. In her favour, she loves Rentaghost so there's hope for her yet.
First one that always springs to mind for me is the one about the WWI soldier's ghost in the railway station. Great series, can't imagine anything like it being made nowadays, with its glacial pacing, impenetrable plots and minimal cast. Stick it on BBC4 and it'd be high art.
