As someone who wears kilts on the dancefloor.... cool ones, in terms of temperature, not cool ones in terms of looks... I would advocate wearing what the hell U like.

Shorts (imho) don't look good with any kind of socks/dance shoes combo so I avoid it. That said, kilts and ballroom shoes isn't a great fix, either and am on it!! That said, for someone who, it seems, is a sartorial affront on the senses... I do OK for people asking to dance...

Bearing in mind some of the peoplr photographed with both their hands and their heads up my kilt at various times, there is some interesting reading up above.

Some like the kilt, some like shorts... some like neither. Who give's a Stokie's vest?!?!?!?

Be U. Be comfortable. If U put ur head above the paarapet, someone will shoot at U. Usually, it will say more about them than U... but it will happen... If U're man enough to wear shorts and shoes/sandals/socks and blochs, then U're man enough to take the stick...

You know last weekend was exceptionally hot and there probably was a higher number of guys in shorts than usual (and vests for that matter ), I'm actually with CJ on this - wear what you like. For me last weekend was about being comfortable and not (really) what I looked like. I was one of those wearing shorts at one point, but I had not intended to dance at that point so was also wearing sandals, after a few dances I realised it wasn't working for me so changed into long trousers and dance shoes.

I note there are no complaints about various combinations involving bikini tops, perhaps that's how you can solve this problem CJ. Have you met DTS's tailor?

...very disappointing it was too. What's happened to the old chap CJ? Have you worn it away to a button mushroom with all that frotting?

Well I'm not going to stop wearing shorts just because a few people don't like it. If they choose not to dance with me because of that, quite frankly I'm glad!!! To coin a phrase, they can "do one"!

I get more compliments about having nice legs with them out (and I do make an effort to wear shorts that at least suit me), and quite frankly I enjoy the attention. Women get attention when they reveal flesh, why can't men!

I'd draw the line at vests though. Men sweat too much. I wear T-shirts (and lots of them!!!!)

Must say I am with CJ Tiger Pants and Frolly on this one. Wear what you like if certain women do not want to dance with you, who cares?

There are a lot more women to dance with, failing that dance with men. Men are the better dancers anyway, you women are nothing but eye candy, well some anyway.

Hammersmith this weekend is a Beach party and have suggested -Hawaiian shirts, lies, Shorts, Speedo's, Bikinis, Sarongs, and Flipflops, are the things to been seen in!

I'd love to see people trying to dance in flipflops

I think that I'll be adopting my usual dress code... and wearing whatever I like... but most certainly not a bikini!

I may have to strap the belly up with some industrial strength cellotape and party on pips.

I find dancing in Birkenstock sandals easy, they don't fall off and are Ok for spinning. Would not team them with Speedo's though

My good mate Colin (some of you probably know him) only ever wears flipflops to dance in, in fact he makes me laugh, as he actually has 'special' dancing flipflops he changes into (out of his ordinary flipflops) when he arrives at a venue

He even does WCS in them!

Re: Refusals - A spin off from the Cerocport review thread

I've not been around for quite a while.

I refused a dance at the last Southport.

The venue was the Victoria on Sunday night (Blues style)

The discussion went along the lines of (somewhat paraphrased, you know what my memory is like):

    D. Would you like to dance?
    L. Sorry, I have a sore knee.
    D. If it gets any better, give me a shout, I'll keep it slow.
    L. Ask (name) for a dance, pointing to a youngster in the group.
    D. She's a bit young.
    L. Go ahead, ask her.
    D. She's far too young.
    L. Ask her for a dance.
    D. (whispering into the ear of L.) What age is she?
    L. 14
    D. !!!! I can't dance blues with a 14 year old.
Dep moves across to 14yo and asks if she would like to go through to the main room to Ceroc?
    14yo. No, not just now.
    D. If you change your mind, I'll take you to the main room for a dance.

Just what was L thinking about?
Have I interpreted someone sinister that didn't exist?
    Opinions please.
