I feel like saying 'Cooooooeeeeeeeee!! Its me you are supposed to be dancing with, you know!!

When I first started dancing back in March, I used to maintain eye contact for the ENTIRE dance I just seemed to find it easier to follow - I don't know if its because you are able to 'read' the lead better?

Now I'm a bit more confident, I tend to look at my partner for a few seconds, smile, then look away. That way I can still follow my partner without looking like an obsessive stalker

I will always try and look my dance partner in the eye for a few seconds at a time - unless I am dancing with one of those incredibly leachy old men that we know and love andand then the floor seems incredibly interesting!

One of the first things that put me off about quite a few dancers was their habbit of looking around the room when they dance. They manage to look bored. So I tend not to ask guys I see doing that. I don't like intense stares but eye contact during the right moves or at the right bits of the song are very sexy.

It's just a shame that the eternity lost in anothers eyes always seems to be over in the blink of an eye (so to speak)
So true hun Sometimes 3 minutes just isn't enough. But then again, with the right partner, is any length of time enough?

    Re: uncomfortable eye contact

I was thinking about this thread when out dancing last night. I decided to pay more attention than usual, and found that most of the guys I danced with didn't actually make a lot of eye contact during the dance; sometimes not at all. I found myself automatically adjusting to match their level; maybe that's something I usually do without thinking about it.

However the few dances I had with partners who gave me great eye contact were the dances; those are the ones I tend to remember in particular.

i find giving them the eye can inprove their dancing, they tend to go that little bit further and try that little bit harder if your paying attention to them...i also find that if you try and slow a dance down, do a spin slower on 3 beats rather than one - you know the sort of thing,,, try and be seductive ,, it shocks them into looking at you.....but then i smile as i at last have their attention.....even if its for them to think yeeeouuuk...
