I skim stuff I'm not interested in, and wait till there's a big weekender on and no-one's posting to catch up proper.

That's pretty much my technique too, and to help further in your quest for a simpler, more tailor-made forum, I have implemented a new feature (available to Silver Members only - Go on subscribe, you know you want to ), it is now possible to select forum areas that will not show on the 'New Posts' or 'Recent Posts' searches.
In practise, it means that if you don't want to see 15 threads from the 'Fun & Games' area when you look for new posts, or you want to avoid all the birthday wishes, or you hate rude discussions and would rather not peek 'Upstairs', all you have to do is go to your control panel and click on 'Edit Options' and you will be able to select which areas you want to ignore in your new posts searches.
These areas will still be visible if you browse the forum normally, i.e. nothing is hidden from you, but it acts as a powerful filter, and should save you all time as well as concentrate more 'serious' posts for those that want them.
All areas in the 'Let's talk about dance' cannot be selected as they are the main reason behind the forum!
I hope this improves your Ceroc Scotland Forum experience!
Franck.
There's an A.P.P. for that!
brilliant - been looking for that feature for a while
I went there, and found that "Chit-chat" had been pre-selected for me – and sure enough, there was no chit-chat threads in my previous "New Posts" list...
Unfortunately I want to see the Chit-Chat, as I'm sure many others do. Do all silver members now ignore chit-chat by default?

I long ago gave up attempting to keep up. Once you've accepted that you can't everything becomes just fine
I skim through the sections that are likely to interest me, and then read other bits when I have more time on my hands.
I'll spend some time attempting to understand how to ignore things later. I'm sure that it's really very simple and only a person with a headcold would look at it and be deeply confused.....
Thanks Franck.
A couple more observations:
* Does everyone know that if you want to select multiple entries you use the Ctrl key to select them? (at least that's how I do it in Windows + IE; I don't know how widely this applies to other platforms). I believe it's a standard method but probably one that isn't used that often so I'm not sure if everyone will know about it?
* One section which some might want to exclude is "Take it outside" - is there any reason why this one doesn't appear on the list? (Maybe it's excluded automatically?)

Cool. Though depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes I want to read 'chit chat' and lots of frivolous stuff. So now I can turn this option on/off according to what I feel like viewing.
(Then again a part of me might wonder what I'm missing...)
More useful would be an "ignore thread" option.
