Well.... you are female... I think that's how it works!
My car (a VW Polo) went in for it's service today, and they wanted to charge me £72 to have my windscreen wipers replaced!!
Of course I said "No, thank you" (or words to that effect ), I just couldn't believe they wanted to charge me so much money!!
So, what are your worst rip off experiences? Tell me, please, just so I can feel a bit better

Oh come on guys... thats not nice!
....Sparkles is probably talking about main dealer rates - an absolute rip off for anything outside of std service flat rates.
Sparkles, did you manage to replace the wipers ok? Was there some weird "factory only bespoke Tool" need to take them off?? Or "fingers of ET" dismantling technique needed?
I had to replace a Head light bulb on my 2002 Polo a while back - that was fun! Luckily I have a huuuuge toolkit from my motorbike days - and pretty good hands for fiddly work....oh and google'd for best ideas on how to get the blighter out!
Best Wishes

Yeah, outrageous.
When my Escort had its first service they helpfully warned me about a hairline crack in the water pump (or something, I dunno, it's a car, I'm a girly) that would need fixing at huge expense before too long. I didn't get it fixed and the car did about 80,000 miles after that with no problems with the water pump.
That's a common ploy with women, the garage hints at a potential problem, nothing too serious or imminent, but 9 times out of 10 they will receive the work of fixing it, especially if it might be perceived as affecting the safety of the car.
Last years MOT (not at VW) for my POLO picked on the windscreen wiper and a few other bits - this was back in Nottingham. I couldnt get things sorted there - when I came to london I went for another test without changing the wiper - just a thorough wipe with alcohol (got the other stuff seen too), The wipers werent picked on. This years MOT never mentioned the wipers!
Just give them a good clean once in a while.
I've bought mine from a little accessory shop up the road and they fitted it free and they did the same with a cracked number plate and a broken fan belt for my daughter!

Hey CJ, I'll do it in 5!
I think the AA have had some radio ads that recommend cleaning the blades with vinegar to prevent a streaky performance.
I wonder if that would work on CJ too?
The biggest rip off I've had lately was £8.20 for postage and postal insurance for an XD memory card, which weighs about 6 grams.
