    Someone says something totally unexpected.

I'm at a social gathering, mingling, chatting, dancing. Lots of happy people, great music, fine food and drink. I'm talking to a charming, lovely guy who I've danced with many times and as dancers do we talk about venues and stuff. Totally out of the blue he says,

"I'm not going to the Casbah because too many coloured girls go there."

    Why would he say this?
    Why would he think this?
    Was it the alcohol talking?
Is that the guy with the limp?

That would be a real incentive for me to attend a venue. *thinks about Viktor, Adrian, Patrick, Henry and all the other fab non-Caucasian dancers*

Sorry, Minnie, but I think you're also making an over-generalisation here. I know plenty of black people who are, ahem, less than wonderful dancers.

I believe that CeeCee is a very very very good dancer, not because of any colour she happens to be, but because she does a lot of this strange thing, I think it's called, err, "practicing", or something...

The moment is REALLY spoiled when...

The children are out for the evening,
The phone is set to answering machine,
The dog is fed, walked and given a new toy,
The bath is run, the curtains are drawn, the candles are lit, the bubbles are scented and frothy,
The wine is chilled and poured

There is you, him and a Long Long night ahead...

And as the mother in law walks in - you realise you didn't lock the door!

Possibly, but percentage wise they are

very true and a lovely lady with it but CeeCee wasn't talking about herself, just a flippant comment some jerk made

The really best dancers are really the Jewish ones (especially the older female ones who live in Sussex)

The moment is spoiled (or was once, in the dim and distant past) when
For the first time ever, you reach the semis in a jive competition (dance with a stranger) before being knocked out.
And someone you know (who got knocked out in the first round) asks how you did, and you tell her excitedly...
    And she says...
"Not really surprising - your partner is best friends with X" (X being one of the judges, and one with a slightly - ahem - dodgy reputation)

    Bah.

No she isn't. I should like to add that all Chinamen are rough. I danced with just one, just the once and it was awful. He nearly had me on the floor several times.

The moment is spoiled when you're with the right person in the right venue and dancing to the right piece of music... and then you both realise that neither of you are dancing in time. Absolute killer!
