I apologise in advance if someone has already done this, but I thought it would be nice to give all those who love to write, a chance to air their work in public.. i.e. poetry, our own song lyrics or story...


This is my poem called 'Consummation'..

The windows of your soul are closed to me
But I feel you are screaming, when I look inside
Their indifference hides the pain and the fear
Such bottomless wells, that ripple so darkly
I know what you feel and I feel it too..

In your lonely sad eyes, I can see who I am
I know you don't see me, but sense how I feel
They gleam in the darkness, bottomless, fathomless
so frozen, cold, scared, I'll give what I can
I know what you want and I want it too..

It's a hunger, dark, primal and buried so deep
So take what you want, freely given and mine to give
Our starvation, with it's inevitable consummation
Spare nothing and take all, body, heart and soul to keep
I know what you need and I need it too..

This dark fire consumes me, and my desire it completes
Take me now please to the place that I beg for
Only a brief moment in the blinding sun to remember
Or a window in the darkness, with a candle that weeps
I know what you gave and I gave it too..

A wild fire burning, a savage hunger to feed
Just some moments in time to remember forever
Desire, surrender, passion, submission and pain
A place that I yearned for, a place that I need
I know what you crave and I crave it too..

All the lights have gone out in my body and mind
Darkness returns to the space that I was
Your teeth loose their hold on my flesh and my skin
The way I once felt, now a place I can't find
I know that you loved me and I loved you too..

Wow.. loved that Poem. I'm not much of a poetry writer, I've dabbled in mediocre rom-com contemporary fiction stuff but nothing that I'd feel confident in submitting for publication or posting extracts on a forum

Ok this is from my mis-spent youth - still makes me smile

I look at you and what do I see?
A caring face looking back at me.
A halo above gleaming blonde hair,
Somebody for whom I deeply care.

Upon your back two feathery wings,
In your heart, confused feelings.
In your eyes, to me it seems,
I sometimes see glimpses of dreams.

Things that have been, things yet to pass,
For time passes by too quickly too fast.

Wishing they could last forever and ever.

For who knows what the future may hide,

The Silver Thread

I have a shiny silver thread, wrapped tight around my heart
It's long and strong and memories are trapped within its coils
Unwrap it and you can see, the live that I have lived
A tapestry of light and love, a masterpiece in oils

The knots you see along the thread, a places where it broke
At times when life was hard to bare, and I was truly lost
With care it was tied together again, to make it strong and true
The love of friends and family, were all the repairs cost

Hold tight your shiny silver thread, it is the key to your heart
Let others hold it with you, share all you are and more
It's length and strength will guide you through life
Its also worth its weight in gold, and will open any door

Unwind the shiny silver thread, all thoughts I've placed inside
The laughter, joy and happiness, the tears, the trials the pain
In every inch of silver thread, a memory will hide
I would not change the life I've lived, or try to live again

When you find the end of your silver thread and life comes to an end
You'll find a place where pain's no more and loneliness has gone
The silver thread will guide you home, to where your'e warm and safe
To be with the one's you've always loved, no more to be alone

School Trip

Going on a school trip in a rickety old bus.
Sixty miles an hour? Well, that’s far too slow for us.
Singing, shouting, screaming, yelling, making lots of fuss,
Going on a trip away from school.

The Diary

I must be moving on again
Turn pages where I’ve lingered
I’ve touched them, oh so carefully
With gentle, loving fingers

Each page has wrinkled over time
They’re filled with smiles and tears
The cobwebs of my life re-lived
With all the passing years

If I decide to open it
And gaze upon its pages
I see my life in front of me
A diary through the ages

Every single word I wrote
I’ve copied from my heart
The feelings that were on display
Right from the very start

When I was young and very shy
The place that I could go
Would be my room I’d be alone
And no one else would know

I’d pour the secrets from my heart
Each word in every line
Would be my soul on paper
To keep for all of time

I’d hide it in my bedroom drawer
So no one else could see
The secrets I had written down
The very core of me

Years later when I found it
All tattered, ripped and torn
The pages were all yellowed
Its sentiments all gone

The cover was so dusty grey
Those words so hard to read
I tried so hard to see the past
Of all those times in need

All I wanted was a friend
Who’d sit with me and smile
To nod their head and answer back
And need ME for a while

The memories came rushing back
The tears began to flow
Of all the ones who love me now
And those I’ve yet to know

My past is now behind me
I must now travel on
The book is back inside the drawer
The pain and hurt has gone

When I feel bad and wonder why
Things aren’t the way I’ve yearned
I won’t forget my diary
The past and all I’ve learned

I’ll hold its dusty covers
With a gentle loving hand
And smile at all the years gone by
Like gently shifting sand

I’ll look inside my heart
And know the past is always there
But dwell on it, I don’t think so
There’s danger if you dare

Look back but only briefly now
The past is dead and gone
Just learn from it my dearest friends
A lesson learned, be strong

The past is there to teach us
To guide us on our way

I'm strangled by the way I feel

MORNING COFFEE

The scattered chairs and tables
Tell a story in this place
My back is pressed against the wall
So I can see each face

I sit in quiet solitude
Before the crowds arrive
The sun streams through the window pane
It makes me feel alive

I watch the fountain splashing
In the courtyard 'cross the way
I sit far back into my chair
And start to plan my day

I'm hiding in this corner
To store some peace of mind
And gather all my happy thoughts
I need just to unwind

I close my eyes and calm myself
Then finish off my prayers
'I hope this days a good one, please'
Then I'll walk past those chairs

I look behind me, one last time
Someone else is sitting down
It doesn't matter at all to me
As I stroll back to town.....

ANOTHER DAY

Eyes half shut and curtains drawn
The light of day is sneaking in
Silver dawn creeps in the room
Cuts the darkness like the moon
Forces me to face a new day
Makes me think 'Is there a new way'?
To hold back time and climb back into
A state of 'waiting to be born'

I turn to face the other wall
Pretending that I'm still asleep
The pillows are a perfect place
It's where I like to hide my face
This warmth and silence is my doom
I close my eyes and leave the room
Go to a place where I feel safe
Where no-one reaches me at all

A first, all's quiet and nothing stirs
My eyes tight shut and body resting
The sounds outside aren't fading fast
I know right now that it can't last
The birds decide when it is morning
Their cries and calls as day is dawning
I can't hold back the hands of time
Or hold on to the wings of birds

I stretch my body, stiff like lead
I feel that night has left for sure
The milkman's driving up the street
The postman heavy on his feet!
The dustman is a noise I hate
I hear him crashing through my gate
Life goes on and I can't stop it
I think 'OK', and nod my head

These precious moments on my own
I contemplate and make my plan
I know that I will face this day
I know that when I drive away
The thoughts I'll have to get me through
Are memories I have of you
Looking forward to the start of night
For in my dreams, I'm not alone

Here's one that is inspired by real events that happened tonight.

It may not be for the squeamish or easily frightened...

In the silent room only the drip drip drip can be heard
A Crimson metronome beating out it’s rhythm on the floor.
A Dark figure surveys the scene, knife gleaming in his hand
While the spreading scarlet pool, creeps towards the door.

The Figure drops the knife to grab a nearby cloth
And starts to clean the mess, warm, slick and congealed
The grizzly and gruesome remains are bagged and binned
The evidence of the nights violent acts, now cunningly concealed

Now dear reader, there’s no need for you to fear
I’m not some vile and murderous sinner
Your humble narrator is Just a clumsy geek
Who dropped the plate holding his evening’s dinner

A Broken plate, by gravity t’was cracked asunder
Sausages under the table rolled, and mash upon the seat splashed,
The beans and mushrooms, trodden underfoot
And thus my tasty dinner plans dashed

ROSES IN THE STORM

The roses by the garden fence
Bow their gentle heads in shame
Their velvet petals crying
Lashed and beaten by the rain

The newly opened rosebuds
Tell a sad and solemn tale
With faces bent down to the earth
Blown and battered in the gale

Each raindrop like a teardrop
Falls splashing to the ground
And forms a pool of water
That ripples with no sound

The little pool of water grows
Like nature’s formed a mirror
Reflections of the roses blooms
In the water, gently quiver

When the storm has ended
The roses give a sigh
The raise the heads up to the sun
And watch the clouds pass by

So dry your eyes and look beyond
The roses in the yard
The storm will pass without a doubt
And though your life seems hard

The flowers in the garden know
Whatever storms they face
They’ll fight to live another day
And fill our world with grace

When autumn comes and flowers die
You’ll know without a doubt
Next year when summer comes around
The roses will be out!

GET OUT!!!


You can get out of my head now
You’ve been there long enough
You must have crept in quietly
And now it’s getting tough

You must have taken residence
The day my back was turned
You moved in very quickly

Reserved for only me
This place is mine so ‘Please Get Out’
I hate this, Can’t you see?

There’s only room for one in here

Old saying goes
Lucky in cards, unlucky in love,
But I don't seem to find
Much luck coming my way either way.

Gentle touch and loving gaze

Diamond Night

A million diamonds on the water
On a distant wave of molten silver
Untouchable stars in the coal black skies
Are the jewel's shining in your eyes

Deep silken night with dazzling moon
On ebony sea with diamonds strewn
Every one far out of reach
A million lights years from the beach

Hot white stars and blinding moon
Fathomless skies as dark as you
Velvet black and diamond bright
The difference between day and night

From the safety of the sands
I can reach out and hold your hands
And like the jewels I can see
I know that it's not meant to be

The chilled dark night with diamonds rare
The frozen moon with baleful stare
A million light years from the beach
Like you, forever out of reach

Inky black and frozen white
Summer's day and winter's night
The sun's first rays cut thru' the skies
The day is born and night time dies

A million diamonds slip away
Their brightness fading with the day

Light touch of gossamer silk on skin
Trace the path of a butterfly's wing

A thundering heart that noone has heard

Anticipation, being the ultimate high
Every breath an eternal wait
I hang by a thread to know my fate
Bittersweet and sharp as a rose's thorn
The light that comes just before dawn
Like grains of sand pouring thru' my fingers
And the last ray's of sun that slowly lingers
Your indrawn breath and inaudible sign
The warmth of your skin and the look in your eye
A silent agreement in both of our minds
A pact to keep secret, what the other one finds..
