    Travel advice..

    Hi,

I'm looking to go from Aberdeen down to Glasgow on or around the 14th August .. but I'm going absolutely scatty with the First Scotrail website. I can get from Aberdeen to Edinburgh for £9.00 on the train.. but the cheapest train I can get to Glasgow is £34 !

I don't want to get a bus (lifes too short to bus) but I cannot figure out the disparity between the fares to Edinburgh and the fares to Glasgow? Is there any day / time best suited for cheap A-> G travel? Any days/ times to avoid?

I'm looking for a one way ticket but even a cheap £19 apex would be good.. except they don't seem to do those Aberdeen to Glasgow, and when I tried booking one Glasgow to Aberdeen (not using the out ticket but using just the back..) it complained mightily that it could not find any services!

    help!!!

an edinburgh to glasgow peak ticket is about £14 i think and its only a 50 minute journey with trains every 15. Can you just get the 2 tickets; Aberdeen > Edinburgh > Glasgow?

I've never found a significantly inexpensive G<>A train. I'm guessing the cheap price for the A<>E route is either the competition (First ScotRail & GWER) or because it's one of the routes that First ScotRail is made to do reasonably cheap (like Glasgow<>Stirling and Glasgow<>Edinburgh).

Looks like Aberdeen to Glasgow via Edinburgh may be your best bet.
