They take the photo from the front. Bikes only have their registration on the back.

What a good idea. As GoJive pointed out they have specific advantages over stand alone cameras.

If they put in enough of these cameras I'm not sure it would be that revenue raising - if you are near certain going to be caught there isn't a whole lot of point speeding (except perhaps at the beginning and end of your journey). And the cost of sat-nav systems to help you not to exceed the limit is falling over time.

I think there's a market for an adjustable speed limiter in cars. So you could set it for, say, 50mph and not accidentally drift over that speed. It would have to be adjustable by the driver, though.

I think some cars (I believe Renaults and Peugeots are both examples) will already let you do exactly this...

My car (which is a Citroen) lets you do this, and I know that Renault and Peugeot cruise control systems are the same - they have two modes which allow you to either set a constant speed, or set a speed limit.

    All French cars then!

I think I've solved the problem another way though. I'm getting a chauffeur; so Tessalicious can worry about the points on her licence.

    Re: New Speed Cameras

Anyone who is interested in avoiding speedcameras (of ALL types), I have a 'New Road Angel' GPS detector for sale. It's great, as it warns of blackspots (often the site of mobile cameras) as well as ALL fixed cameras in the UK. You update the device via USB. Check out http://www.blackspot.com/products/ne...gel/index.html

If anyone is interested, please email with a reasonable offer and it's yours! I trust all you lot, so am prepared to post it out. It cost me almost £400 18 months ago. It's in great nick, with the box and all manuals, leads and bits. The subscription will need renewing, but this is dead easy.

    Cheers,

    Funky Si

PS. And before you ask, I'm selling it coz I don't have to travel the 120 miles to Canterbury and back now......

thought I was going down that road and I was tootling along at 40 MPH as you do.... and then next thing a car cam powering up my outside and piled on the breaks thinking it was a normal sped camera....ha ha no luck mate you've got a ticket!!!!

There is only on thing....if you're on a bike your fine.....cause it takes a pick of the front of the vehicle not the rear and bikes dont have front number plates.....hmmm someone thought that through
