Question How long is your longest lasting shirt/top safe for dancing

It can be difficult to know how long a shirt is good for, other than where dampness/visible sweat is the limiting factor - so any opinions and/or details on longest lasting garments ?

To narrow down some 'it depends' circumstances:-

    1) The shirt starts freshly laundered.
    2) You start freshly showered ( or equivalent ).
    3) You engage in sweat provoking activity shortly after putting it on, and periodically thereafter.
    4) Visible sweat never becomes a reason for changing it.
    5) The level of dampness never becomes a sufficient reason to change it.
    6) The environment is neither well air conditioned or furnace hot.
    7) Safe = not likely to bother any of your partners.
    8) There is no undershirt to protect it ( either that or the undershirt is the shirt in question).
    9) You have a good reason to want to push the shirt as long as your safely can.
    10) The shirt is used in combination with a decent deodorant.

How does that matter? Do women sweat more or less than men?

You are referring to 80 bars per minute?

Various outdoor clothes are designed to "wick" perspiration away. I have some which use some wonder material called "CoolMax".

I don't know how it works but these shirts do seem to stay significantly drier than eg. a normal cotton top. On the other hand they don't always look that good and they're more expensive.

I'm sure there are other threads about it too - haven't time to find them just now..

If you wear a suit your shirt will last all night -- even dancing fast in Summer -- just don't take the jacket off

Sometimes a clean freshly laundered shirt can be smelly after 10 minutes!

Freshly laundered and on a clean deodorised bloke!

I don't know what some people's laundry process is, but their T shirts sometimes smell musty and mouldy - like they haven't been aired properly. As soon as they warm up and get damp they take on a quite a strong smell of their own, alarmingly quickly.

Once a T shirt has reached this condition I'm not sure if it can be saved, it may even have to be thrown away.

I'm no expert, but 20 years of dinghy sailing means I too have had some suspect items of clothing.

Some TOP TIPS for avoiding getting them into this state:

1.Try not to store sweaty things in plastic bags for too long.
    2. Allow them to dry fully before washing if possible.
    3. Don't leave them dirty for more than a couple of days.
    4. Start the drying process as soon as possible after washing.
    5. Dry them outside ideally or laid out flat on an airer/radiator.
    6. When clean don't store them in an airtight bag for too long.

Not true it was always a Friday night thing, with the cleanest using the bath water first and Dad last
