    speaking as someone who does a bit for another (non dance related) forum using the same forum software here what we do there is usually lock the original thread and then start a new one <THREAD TITLE Pt 2>

    There is no reason why the new thread can't have the same name as the MySQL database in the background assign each post an unique post ID. The Pt 2 just makes for ease of finding a particular post.
