Ceroc Cookies.. the edible kind ;)

After reading a post in the Technical problems section of the forum I got to thinking.., What would a Ceroc cookie recipe be like..

After a quick hunt through my various cookery books I found one in my Green and Blacks Chocolate recipes that might hit the spot. I've renamed it to something more appropriate

Ceroc "Better than Chocolate" soft baked biscuits

    75g (3oz) unsalted Butter
    60g (2 1/2 oz) Caster Sugar
    1 large beaten egg
175g (6oz) wholemeal Self raising flour
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 or 2 tablespoons of milk
75g (3oz) dark chocolate, 60% cocoa, roughly chopped
75g (3oz) Milk chocolate, 34% cocoa, roughly chopped
    50g (2oz) brazil nuts
    pinch of salt.

    preheat oven to 180 c/350 f/gas mark 4

cream the butter and sugar in a bowl, beat in the egg. sift flour once returning bran to flour and fold into mixture ,beat well. Add vanilla and enough milk to make a pliable dough, mix with your hands, adding milk slowly until dough is soft but not sticky.

add chopped chocolate, nuts and pinch of flour. and mix through mixture. roll out onto a lightly floured board to a thickness of about 5mm (1/2 inch) stamp into rounds. place on greased baking sheet.

cook in middle shelf for about 20 mins watch they don't burn.

    allow to cool before serving.

of course, now I'll have to make some of these and take them into class.. but it wont be tomorrow. won't have time. but next time..

10 out of 10 for the chocolate but, I think, you have got to use ether brown or red sauce somewhere in the recipe and may be some tea as long as it not Twynings or Tesco

Mmm, an ok recipe but not very Ceroc-y... it needs something to give it a bit of zip and zing - that feeling when there's a sudden flash of everything just going right. Try adding chopped stem ginger, and instead of using milk to mix, use the syrup from the ginger jar. Gives it a smooth background warmth and little bites of spice

    funny you should say that..

was in bed last night with my cookery books (don't ALL blokes go to bed with cookery books?) and was working out a few recipes. using lemon zest and/or ginger.

I actually came across a cake recipe that used little flecks of chilli and I was taking ideas from that for my Ceroc cookies .. Mind you ask Gadget he'll say I'll have Chilli with everything!

Looks like the experimental kitchen will be busy this weekend.. something a little "different" is called for.

BTW.. the cookies went down well at work this morning.. distinctly edible just lacking "punch"

Glancing at the New Posts list a moment ago, my brain did it's standard mix-the-words-up trick, and I read the title of this thread as: 'Ceroc Shorts.. the edible kind '

I think I may need therapy now.

Chocolate and chilli make a particularly delicious combination, especially if you add a bit of orange, sounds like a great recipe for Ceroc cookies too, smooth and delicious decadence with a touch of spice, and just a little bit fruity!

I think you should make them nice and small, so that people can have a-5, a-6, a-5,6,7,8 of them each, or even better, share them with a partner.

There's got to be a party game in there somewhere probably one that doesn't involve hands but I really should go and do some work instead of thinking about that...

    That's why I'm a Sainsbury's addict!

It doesn't come chopped, you do have to make a BIT of effort! It comes as little blobs, and you chop it up yourself. Are you going to the Dundee party? I think I've got half a jar left in the fridge, or could even bring you a fresh one

I've got chocolate in the fridge that I bought in Australia mixed with chilli - very tasty.

Yes I am but No it's ok..There's a Sainsbury's just down the road from me. I was so busy rushing around I didn't get a chance to get any.

    It comes as little blobs
ginger plant shaped blobs I assume

I'll get some next weekend and HOPEFULLY bake some cookies before the party
