    Spring Clean!

I've been having a spring clean!

This is beneficial for a number of reasons - it makes the place look nicer, I've found things that I thought I lost ages ago (no rude comments please) and I can get rid of accumulated clutter!

Is anyone else having a spring clean and do you have any top tips?

Mine have to be: take all the things you don't use any more to a charity shop. I made a donation of clothes to a charity shop, that gives the proceeds to the hospital I work in, this morning. It makes you feel good for two reasons, you get rid of those things you no-longer need so someone else can make use of them and you're helping raise money for a good cause.
: Put some of your favourite tracks on so you can dance around the house with the duster and hoover .

    Re: Spring Clean!

I had a major spring clean a week ago, ready to show potential new housemates around. Four sacks of rubbish, three lots of recycling - and I still haven't started on the landfill site that is my den/spare room Maybe when I get back from Cirencester next week I'll make a start...

    Top tips? Just do it!

Here, it is autumn, and I started my spring clean two weeks ago (that's 6 months late, not 6 months early). I achieved a lot in the first 4 hours, but very little since then. Hope to get finished in the the next couple of weeks.

I looked at the carpet this morning and decided it needed hoovering....does that count?

My top hoovering track is currently 'Chaiyya Chaiyya', Punjabi MC (From the Inside Man soundtrack).

    Re: Spring Clean!

I just fainted cos Emma posted.
This weekend I mostly found some of my philately under the stairs at the very back bit behind the Reebock Step Reebock Stand Still and think of pizza more like, so my spring clean has not been terribly efficient.

I have however, finally got around to putting some photos in albums so I have some very useful empty boxes to use in stage 2, which is probably next year some time.

I've just given the front suspension coils on my car a wipe down

My idea of a spring clean, is simply to move all my clutter from the lounge (back) to the spare bedroom, then to stare at the windows and think to myself "they really need a damn good clean!". So I start by 'cleaning out' the beer compartment of the fridge....then I think "sod the spring clean!"

I hope you didn't want any of the stuff in the big tartan bag cos they've all been donated to charity now, along with lots of my things...

... you did say I could...

Yup. And my top tip is: DON'T DO IT!!!

I decided on Sunday that I should have a very thorough cleaning out in my bedroom, and moved out nearly all the furniture so that I could hoover and wash everywhere. After hoovering behind and under the bed, I decided it would be a fantastic idea to take the mattress off and clean the slats too. Uh oh. BAD plan. Something went 'pop' in my back, and I was crumpled on the floor in excruciating pain, unable to move.

Spent the next few days in bed taking huge amounts of painkillers, watching my two lovely neighbours do all my work for me (shopping, cleaning, tidying, walking the dog, supplying me with chocolate..... ).

So, although it was rather nice being pampered for a couple of days, it now means I probably won't be able to dance much at the Beach Ballroom weekend!

Moral of the story - don't do your spring cleaning, let someone else do it for you instead!

Dont move your bed into the landing unless you like sleeping there for a few weeks

    hope your back gets better

Can I include tiling my kitchen in the same category as spring cleaning cos it should be finished by next spring

ps I think cobwebs hanging from the ceiling give that Dramatic effect anyway

Top tip - invite some forumites to stay - worked for me - my spare room is a bedroom once again!

And in the process I completely filled my recycling bin and had 3 bags for the charity shop. I've just filled another 2 bags today. I still have more to do...

I'm going to have a visitor in a couple of weeks' time.

Hang on, why am I sitting around reading the forum when I've got a house to tidy!
