    Logic Puzzles

Heres some logic puzzles - I much prefer Questions that don't rely on my poor memory like the Film and Music ones...(feel free to ask questions if you think any are unclear)

(for these can I ask anyone who already knows the answer not to post it - let the people who have to work it out get a chance )

    1. You have two coins. Together they add up to 11 pence. One of them is NOT a 1 pence coin. What are th two coins ?

    2. A man leaves his flat on the 10th floor every morning to go to work, taking the lift down. At the end of the day he comes back, gets in the lift and travels to the 7th flloor where he then gets out and climbs the stairs to his flat. He does this every day without fail unless its raining, in which case he gets out at the 10th. He hates climbing stairs. Why ? Explain!

    3. How many of EACH animal did Moses take into the ark ?

    4. Anthony and Cleopatra lie dead on the floor of a villa. There are no marks on their bodies. The only objects around are a broken bowl and a pool of water. How did they die?

    5. A car drives along a country road. There are no streetlights. The car does not have its lights on and there is no moon visible in the sky. As it turns a bend there is an unconsious man dressed in very dark clothes in the road ahead. The car swerves to safely avoid the man. How did the driver see the unconcious man?

    6. A man pushes his car up to a hotel. He stops. He immediately knows that he is bankrupt. Explain!

    7. If TheTramps peacock laid an egg in Gus's garden, who is the rightful owner of the egg?

more soon - if anyone is interested

    Done this one before

    2. A man leaves his flat on the 10th floor every morning to go to work, taking the lift down. Done this one before too

    3. How many of EACH animal did Moses take into the ark ?
    No idea

    4. Anthony and Cleopatra lie dead on the floor of a villa. There are no marks on their bodies. The only objects around are a broken bowl and a pool of water. How did they die?
Done this one before too, too

    5. A car drives along a country road. There are no streetlights. The car does not have its lights on and there is no moon visible in the sky. As it turns a bend there is an unconsious man dressed in very dark clothes in the road ahead. The car swerves to safely avoid the man. How did the driver see the unconcious man?
I'm assuming that he saw him because it's daytime

    6. A man pushes his car up to a hotel. He stops. He immediately knows that he is bankrupt. Explain!
    Monopoly

    7. If TheTramps peacock laid an egg in Gus's garden, who is the rightful owner of the egg?
If a peacock laid an egg, then could we claim a miracle. Peacocks are male (the clue is in the word!). Now, if my peahen laid the egg, then Gus and I could share scrambled eggs for breakfast

Just got number 3 I think too.

He took 1 of EACH animal. And 2 of EACH TYPE of animal.

Are you sure I can't claim the points for all the ones I've seen before??

The 2 coins are a 'ten pence' and a 'penny'.
One of them is not a 1 pence coin, which means one is!

I knew most of the other ones already, and the Tramp got the other ones!

    4. If you were given a course of five tablets with instructions to take one every half hour, how long would the course last?
5.Which country has a 4th of July : France, USA or Britain?
6.How many birthdays does the average man have?
7.Why can't a man living in London be buried in Wales?
    8. If you are alone in a freezing cold deserted house with a paraffin lamp, firewood, a candle and only one match, which would you light first?
    9. Why is it illegal in Scotland for a man to marry his widow's sister?
10.If you drove a bus to the Ceroc Glasgow venue on a Wednesday with 40 passengers and picked up 7 more, then dropped 2 of them off, what would be the driver's name?

hmm too easy, ill look up some difficult ones tommorrow.
only other ones i can think now of are just as simple, but here goes...

1 - A clerk in the butcher shop is 5' 10'' tall and has red hair. What does he weigh?

2 - If there are 3 apples and you take away 2, how many do you have?

3 - What was the UK Prime Ministers name in 1982 ?

4 - A farmer has 17 sheep, and all but 9 die. How many are left?

Shown in the image are 4 men buried up to their necks in the ground.
They can not move so can only look forward.
Between A and B is a brick wall which can not be seen through.
They know that between them are 4 hats, 2 x black and 2 x white, but they do not know which colour they are wearing.
In order to avoid being shot one of them must call out to the executioner the colour of their hat. If they get it wrong, everyone will be shot.
They are not allowed to talk to each other and have 10 minutes to fathom it out.

    After 1 minute:

Q Which one of them calls out ?

    Q. Why is he 100% certain of the colour of his hat ?

This is not a trick question.
There are no outside influences nor other ways of communicating. They cannot move and are buried in a straight line. So A & B can only see their respective sides of the brick wall, C can see B and D can see B & C.

Hmmm. I knew all the answers to the ones that DavidB got. Honest

1 - A clerk in the butcher shop is 5' 10'' tall and has red hair. What does he weigh?
    Meat?

2 - If there are 3 apples and you take away 2, how many do you have?
    2

3 - What was the UK Prime Ministers name in 1982 ?

4 - A farmer has 17 sheep, and all but 9 die. How many are left?

Okie. I think I've got the answer to DavidB's question....

The person to answer, is 'C'.

Because, he can see the colour of 'B's hat. If his hat was the same colour as 'B', then 'D' would know the answer immediately, so 'D' would have answered. Hence, his hat must be a different colour to 'B's.

Unless of course, 'D' was already dead. Or blind. Or mute. Or stoopid. Or something

    Steve

PS. I think I explained that really, really badly. I hope you understand!!
