    Jivemasters 2006?

Seeing as I'm in competitive mood what with Blackpool only really just around the corner..... And seeing as we didn't have one last year to feast our eyes upon, shouldn't there be a jivemasters competition in 2006?

Who do you want to be there and why?

    Anyone you like...

they don't have to be 'famous'...

I'll start, Phil & Yuko. For innovation, style, technique and the fact that they're both fantastic people. (Not really a good reason...but reasons don't have to be!)

And hence it's a real shame that they've split up, and aren't dancing together any more...

Or do you know something that we don't??

What?!!!! This is very shocking news!!! I hope they get back together!

Funny me and steve were talking about jivemasters last night. The guy who ran it has gone back to Australia. So I guess there won't be one this year.

Who's doing Blackpool?? We're going in for the Advanced again.

Ummm. That'd be Adam. Who's actually gone to New Zealand. And since he never actually came from there, he's just gone. Not gone 'back'....

And apparently there is going to be one this year

I thought the jive masters qualification structure was placing in a major competition in the previous year. so 2005.
therefore it is not up to a democratic vote just did you or didn't you

I think that was the original sort of criteria. Being previously placed in a major comp.

However, that then got widened to include teachers and suchlike who hadn't competed.

Then, it got widened further to include people that they could actually get to do it.

There were certainly people competing last year, who hadn't even competed at the top level when they competed, let alone actually won anything.

But then, if there are 5 major competitions, with 3 places - even if different people were put into those 15 places, that'd only be 15 couples - enough for 3 heats. And of course, it's generally a lot of the same names winning things, and also people not able to make the jivemasters competition as well. Which meant that, since they needed about 40 couples (I'm guessing at 8 heats), meant that invitations were going out to a wide variety of couples.

Please note, I'm not knocking the jivemasters. I like the concept. Just commenting on Simon's post.

even so as this widened these were still invites only, i believe decided by nigel and adam. therefore still not up for public debate

I think that they would take suggestions as to people who might be interested in competing. Including from said people themselves though....

However, I think James was just asking people to say who they'd like to see. Whether Nigel & Adam take those suggestions, is up to them obviously.

Me? I'd like to see you and Nicole. Or failing that, you and Lisa. And me and Nicole
