Phone your network's helpline and they might (should?) be able to fix it up with a SIM update or two.

Of course, Christmas day probably isn't the best time to do this...

Do you reckon it could be the sim then? Just tried to call o2 help line and they are open christmas day at 9 but i guess it will be busy. I have had this sim for years now. Can they really just pack up like this? It started a few days ago when i could send pics now i cant send anything. What a time to happen eh. Oh well!

It probably just needs some settings restored. They should be able to sort it out or tell you you need a new sim (I doubt it though, these things are fairly indestructible.)

Might want to try to clean the contacts on the sim just in case...

    Good luck!

Just went thru it step by step with an o2 web site setting up GPRS WAP, and still doesnt work. Tried it on 2 other phones and still doesnt work. So guess it really is the sim. Technology eh!!

Thanks you trying to help me get it sorted!! will be on to the helpline at 9am!

i am having a similar problem on O2, only mine has to do with media messages. O2 are the biggest pile of pants, if my contract wasnt so good i would have left them, so for now i need to put up with horrendous customer service.

What problems are you getting with media messaging Danielle?

My text are sometimes going through. All started when i couldnt sent any picture messages. When someone sends me a picture text i have to wait for a download which takes about 10 minutes. I hope that once my new sim arrives then my trouble will be over. I have tried my sim in the other phone but this still has the same results.

I have to be on 02 as its the only network that has reception in the areas that i work.

Hope yours gets sorted out soon Danielle.

If they are sending you a new sim with the same phone number, they'll have had to unregister your existing one.

That'll also be why it says you don't have a signal. Your phone can't get a signal because no-one is prepared to talk to it.

Hope the new sim comes through from o2 soon.

    Danielle,

I'm assuming that basic voice, voice-mail and SMS services are all accessible from your phone handset.

You might be able to download the MMS settings to your phone from the O2 Web site.

    Have you tried ....

    www.o2.co.uk

Select "O2 Active" in the grey menu bar towards the top (it seems to me that O2 Active incorporates the phone settings for GPRS and MMS)

Select "Get Settings" in the Left Hand menu under "Products and Services"

Select "O2 Active" from the centre pane on the screen

Input the relevant details of your phone type and phone number.

What should happen is you should get one or more SMS texts that download the settigns to the phone. Sometimes you have "accept" the settings sometimes the setup is automatic.

You can normally (always?) set these parameters manually - but there can be lots of them - and the potential for entering a WAP gateway name (or whatever) incorrectly by one letter will stop the whole set of data services working.

    Regards

    Clive

    Re: My mobile phone help

I woke up in such a good mood this morning until i rang 02

Apparently because i have problems with my sim they are sending me another one - all well and good you would think. But, oh bloody no! Because they have sent one out in the post, they have cancelled my current sim. I cant even make emergency calls. I am so cross. I have to make a 200 mile journey in a bit to the Peak District where the snow is bad and will not be able to contact the others if i run into problems. I have been with 02 for years now and they do this to me. They said i will get a new sim by the end of the week.

Rant over! will try and enjoy the rest of my day!

Well I have a spare sim somewhere which you can have or just take my mobile with you. I don't need it today I would feel better that you can be contacted

Ah thank you so much! Just found a spare sim so will use that! No idea what the number is! but at least i will be able to get myself out of trouble should the time arise. Just have to put some credit on it first.

Will write a strong letter to 02 later.

    Calming down now!

    Re: My mobile phone help

I'm thinking of switching network, and was wondering if anyone has experience of the network "3"? Any advice you can give me on it is really appreciated.

    Thanks
