Does this page have anything that helps?
Good evening,
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong with iTunes - I've downloaded all the software whatnots and it full access through my firewall thingie but I keep getting "Error 403" when I try to download the tracks that I have paid for
Any ideas?
Thanks

Still not got anywhere
According to the website I've got a "RTSP Error" "403 - forbidden" I've paid for my bloomin' music I want to play it
Also I don't know what this ituneshelper thing is. I can't find to download
Anyone got any other ideas?
The "iTunes Helper" is a mini application that is part of iTunes and does stuff for iTunes.
Have you got a firewall maybe blocking it or iTunes from accessing the 'net?

I've got McAfee Firewall Plus but as per your other post I have it as full access
The problem is that I'm not computer literate beyond the basics so I don't understand all this RTSP and 403 stuff
RTSP = real-time streaming protocol, I think. It's used to get music and videos across the internet. It is based in part on the HTTP protocol.
403 = "Forbidden" in the HTTP protocol, which, I guess, means something is blocking your attempt to access something using RTSP.
If it is not your firewall, are there any other firewalls or proxies anywhere? Are you able to, for example, watch movie trailers from here (that I think are delivered using RTSP)?

I could see them OK so now I'm really confused. It must be something in my firewall then
I'm at a bit of a loss too. I couldn't say for definite it's your firewall, but as it's going to be what makes your computer different from the millions of others out there...Originally Posted by Icey

I guess the 30 second previews on iTunes work OK too?

Did the tracks download and now won't play? That is to say that you have the files but you can't authenticate the machine?
If the tracks didn't finish downloading will you have been charged for them?
iTunes have charged me for them but I can't download them. Eberytime I try I get a "403 Error"Originally Posted by killingtime
So the machine has the tracks queued to download but doesn't actually download them (instead a little error message appears saying 403: blah).Originally Posted by Icey
I'm just trying to get a more complete picture. What sort of firewall setup do you have (what firewall/router and such do you use)?
I have sorted it ! th McAfee Privacy was a little over zealous, I just have to work out how to configure it now to allow in future.
KT and Ducasi, I owe you both a drink when I'm up there in Jan
No problem... You paying us a visit next month? cool!

As that's the weekend of the Glasgow party, do you think that killingtime will make it over for the first time? (For a regular event.)
BTW, what advert was it that featured "a very, very nice man"? Was it the AA?

Might have been, although I can usually fix my own car when it comes to changing oil and changing tyres etc so I don't have to call them out to often.BTW, what advert was it that featured "a very, very nice man"? Was it the AA?
Probably not . It's Red Hot and Blue the night before which I'll be going to (I expect). It's also my girlfriend's birthday on the Sunday and the first weekend I'll see her now . Hope I get a chance to see you Icey .Originally Posted by ducasi
That's a shame, but it sounds like you'll be having a good weekend anyway.
