    How old is old?

In the Aberdeen P&J on Monday I read in the Peter Mitchell Column
"Old swingers gather at the Forum".

Unfortunatley I was unable to make it on Friday night but I know that several of my fellow cerocers were there.

I was dismayed to read -
"some of the North-east's oldest swingers were nursing creaking joints yestarday after jiving the night away at the weekend".

I may not be a Spring chicken but I certainly do not feel nor act "old" so how old is old and what makes us old?
Sitting watching TV, having no exercise and not enjoying life is my idea of old what's yours?

    Old? Moi?

Ten Sure Signs of Getting Older:

    1 Policemen's parents look young
2 Annuity projections make fascinating reading
3 Your dance partner went to school with your daughter
4 Your children don't wait up for you anymore
5 You visit garden centres by choice
6 You remember when Dunfermline Athletic won the Scottish Cup
7 You reckon there's never been any good music since Fleetwood Mac
8 You think cardigans with leather elbow patches are pretty daring fashion items
9 You always know where the nearest loo is
10 In springtime, your thoughts turn to bedding plants rather than girls

    (I only identify with 4 and 6)

Gee! I thought the commando thread was a bit of fun, but now it appears Aberdeen dances are a venue for swingers!!

Things are definitely racy up north!

well I don't suppose many of us 'oldies' feel very old. It's all in the mind isn't it

The bones aren't creaking too much yet but given that mentally I'm probably still in my teens it's no surprise I don't feel 40 +. Not sure what being over 40 is meant to feel like anyway !!!!!!!

But as for being a swinger................ not sure what else is being reffered to excpet a lover of swing music. I'm far too naive and innocent to understand anything else. But if there are any swingers aroun...............

Let's hear it for us old swingers !!!!!!!!

Old / young is irrelevant, really.
One of the most successful sides of Ceroc is how we get such a broad range of dancers, all the way from 18 to 180...
I really like how all the typical social barriers (men / women, old / young, rich / poor, etc...) are broken down on the dance floor.
This makes for a much more exciting night for everyone.
When you have 100+ dancers all having a great time, age is nothing compared to a fun attitude

As for the media quote, this is typical of the clichŽs that journalists use all the time. Lie, damn lies and newspapers...

From what I've heard possibly the best dance night ever in Aberdeen.
As I was offshore at the time I was well p*%%$£ off when I was told how good it was.
good news:- this event will be followed up by monthly events, or so a source told me.
And they even played our song!

    swinging commandos

Aberdeen - Swinging Capital of Scotland.

Sounds a whole lot more plausible than 'Aberdeen, City of Roses'.

And yes John, there are more swinging (it's always the quiet ones...) nights in the pipeline so lots more opportunities to dance along to 'our song'.

Graham - you'd better look out your dancing shoes for the next gig. Swing on up to Aberdeen and meet the whole platoon...

Age is a condition of the body!
youth is a function of the mind!?

    you are what you feel
if your in your 30's feel your in your 50's give your self a shake
if your in your 50's and feel your in your 30's good for you

Youth is wasted on the young. (stolen)

Age is a high price to pay for maturity (stolen)

    regards

Here's a truism about age and success:

At age 4 success is . . . not wetting yourself.
At age 12 success is . . . having friends.
    At age 16 success is . . . having a drivers license.
At age 20 success is . . . having sex.
At age 35 success is . . . having money.
At age 50 success is . . . having money.
At age 60 success is . . . having sex.
    At age 70 success is . . . having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is . . . having friends.
At age 80 success is . . . not wetting yourself...

Note how it says nothing about dancing, so we can assume it's great for any age!

PS John, your campaign to occupy all the lists is doomed to failure - asides from people like me coming up with slender excuses to "stomp" you off each topic, you should know Franck always ends up having the last word

Besides, some of us have to keep our place in the top ten posters chart...
