Agree it is good reading but also agree I wouldnt dream of posting a top 10
Different people, different dances, different challenges. No way can I choose 10
I was recently in Australia and tried out a few venues! One of the questions asked by most people was 'Have you competed?' or 'Have you been placed?'.Originally Posted by El Salsero Gringo

Are the brits just as obsessed with placings/competions?

I can't entirely agree with this, partly because if I posted a list I know I would forget to mention people that should be in there, but maybe I rarely get the chance to dance with them or see them. Am I just a tart for suggesting that my list would also vary depending on who's available?Originally Posted by El Salsero Gringo
Last Tuesday I was approached by someone vaguely familiar, that I can't have seen for at least a couple of years, we just had the most brilliant dance where everything worked, and that was it, it maybe another 2 years or more until our next one. So if I was compiling a list on Tuesday, she would be in it (if I knew her name!) I can also have pretty dire dances with my favourites on rare occasions, for some reason the connection, or the music, or the mood is just not right. Dance, like, life, is just too fickle!
There's a few more lists here this obviously isn't a topic that wants to stay buried...

...99.5% of all dances I have is truly brilliant and wonderful and fun and just about enjoying dancing and the connection there and then - nothing serious and although it certainly can be debated whether it is a good or bad thing to name people I have had particularly good experiences with doesn't really matter - but nice to get a chance to say - hi - you probably know this already, but I think you're wonderful and fun to dance with
...and for the remaining 0.5% you unfortunately hurt me as I have back problems and just need a little guidance in how to dance safely and without causing any pain or further injuries

How come Mike Ellard is nowhere to be seen here ?
Can only surmise one of the following:-
A) No-one likes to dance with him
B) No-one likes the way he dances
C) He never dances
just curious..

Aha! but you obviously admit to having a top ten then. If you see the start of this thread it states that they are not neccesarily the "best dancers" it is people you enjoy dancing with. I completely agree that everybodies "top ten" will keep changing. I've already posted 30 and keep having to stop myself from posting more!Originally Posted by Zebra Woman
In my opinion your (thats anyone, not ZW) ego must be pretty large if you expect to be on someones list considering how many dancers there are out there. Tott up in your head roughly how many people you have ever danced with it's hundreds if not more. So how can anyone 'expect' to be in the top ten. There are some leaders i have had a"wow" dance with but it has only happened once. There are others on my list that i've never had that "wow" dance with, but they are on there for other reasons.
Personally i think that some people are wary of posting their top ten incase they don't get asked anymore by the people that weren't on their list
Is that good or bad?!?! I was amazed you had only been dancing such a short time. I really enjoyed our dances, although it was the one with Viktor that was captured for posterity!! You obviously grow quickly up their in Scotland, much better dance fertilizer ! Bet Jive Brummie, Trampy and co have never been called that before!!Originally Posted by drathzel

Re read post 1.
There are a few guys in Brighton I used to love dancing with, now I try and avoid them, there lead is so strong my shoulders ache after. Has my 'follow' got lighter, or their lead stronger, or has it always been like that and I never winged beforeOriginally Posted by Cruella

Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)
Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.
I did - but then it appeared you changed the goalposts with your last post.Originally Posted by Cruella

I dont want to be in anyones top 10 list !!! (Its stewart38)
I wouldnt remember the names to comply a top 10 list (its stewart38)
ZW could be in my top 10 but to be fair and show no bias lets say top 50 (its stewart38)
To be honest by the time ive got to nos 7 id have to describe her, (its stewart38)
I assume most people have just listed teachers . However if you have never danced with them how can they be in your top 10
OK explain to me which goalposts have been moved. In simple terms, as i said i'm used to working with 4 year olds.Originally Posted by DavidJames
