Finchley (Whetstone) is closed next Monday. (Open on Tuesday, and the Monday after as normal).Originally Posted by stewart38
It does sound good, it's gotten some nice comments about it. Depends where your friend is based of course, as to how convenient any location is; it being Darn Sarf, I've never been.Originally Posted by stewart38
Finchley's closed next Monday, so I definitely wouldn't go thereOriginally Posted by stewart38
Oops - ESG's just said that.
Plus, I crippled the teacher last night. But we won't talk about that...

On a similar note, I imagine Ashtons on Wednesday week will be a vast gaping hole of emptiness...Originally Posted by El Salsero Gringo

The grand is younger and packed and pulls in lots of new people. They have a dedicated DJ.
Twickenham is also very good (taught by Val & Dave) but a slightly older crowd and more regulars. Dave does the demoing & the DJing.
Both have very good taxi dancers.
I don't like the dance floor at the grand, and i would personally go to Twickenham due to it's location to me.
Actually yer, i'd do Jango in Hammersmith

I'm blonde, what's your excuse?

If you've got a reasonably modern web-browser then you could try the new and exciting zoomable worldwide modern jive map.
Or the wcs map, the lindy map, the salsa map, the tango map, etc.
Did I mention I was getting bored not dancing

Yes 25s-35s is the average, Clapham has a younger catchment then other venues.

You are kidding, right?Originally Posted by TiggsToursFriday night is one thing...and all the Jewish people I know eat Bacon, and dance on a Friday.
No, and I don't think I've ever seen you there on a Wednesday, so don't see how you could argue with me on that one.Originally Posted by El Salsero Gringo
You're right, I haven't been on Wednesday in the last three years. It might have changed hugely. It will be interesting to see what numbers are like on Wednesday week.Originally Posted by TiggsTours
Well, it's true Cricklewood isn't Finchley, and I haven't been there for a while myself, but I think you're slightly underestimating the number there... I'd imagine that it's at least in the dozens. You could always ask JoOriginally Posted by TiggsTours
I don't think they'd close Finchley if they thought there'd be many people there on Monday, and I understand (anyone wanna comment?) that Yom Kippur is as important as New Year in the calendar - these are two big dates.
But at least we have the consolation that some people won't be endangering their souls by dancing next Monday...
Now you're kidding, right? Since when has that stopped him?Originally Posted by TiggsTours
Much more important, in fact. Yom Kippur is the only holy day that takes precedence over the Sabbath.Originally Posted by DavidJames
To be honest, from a Jewish observance point of view, paying money on a Friday night (to go to a dance) is just about the worst thing you could do; doing it on the New Year isn't any worse.
