I noticed there's not been much talk about Ashtons over the past couple of months.
So, pursuing my theory about the Ten Cool People who decide what venues are cool in London, have these ten left Ashtons?

Yeah, but I never go anywhere cool on principle, so I wouldn't know.Originally Posted by Dizzy

FWIW, I think it's still pretty cool. But I'm not One Of The Ten...
Ashtons is my favourite place at the moment (unless those Jive Arses are playing)
Who are the top ten people then?
Was so looking forward to friday 7th party night at Ashtons until i read that the banana men are playing Oh well i will be there after 10.30 then

I've been to Ashtons only once, on Tartan night, and I thought it was amazingly cool

Yeah, I thought your were one of The Ten somehow... it was the hooded cloak, sibilant whispering, and glowing red eyes that gave me my first subtle clues.Originally Posted by El Salsero Gringo

The night you and the posse came to Ashton's was one of the best nights there ever IMHO...but I will admit to having a bias towards the Scottish contingent, even towards Scotland in general actually...Originally Posted by Tiggerbabe

I interviewed over three hundred dancers when I was compiling my history of Modern Jive, and I asked each of them about any information they may have about The Ten. Most of them gave me the usual hodge-podge of rumor, though some of our most illustrious dancers adamantly insisted that The Ten did not exist at all.
I pieced together the various fragments of rumor, and this is the rather fanciful portrait of the organization as I imagine it. Now remember, Mr James, this portrait is crudely sketched in the crayons of innuendo. Supposedly, membership of The Ten is the highest honour a dancer can aspire to in Modern Jive. Much of its mystique lies in its total secrecy. There is a bond of honour among the members never to reveal their membership, not even to their wives and family.
There are various theories on selection. Some dancers told me they heard the inductees were enrolled at Hammersmith, others insisted on the Ceroc Champs. One poor idiot was sure it was a WCS plot. A lindy-hopper thought it was a plot to keep swingers off the dance floor. I interviewed many sad dancers, Mr James.
Having discussed this at great length tonight, I now believe knowledge of the Ten is a Heisenberg-y thing - you can either know who they are, or where they go to - never both at the same time.
Or, in my case, neither.
But I'm sure they exist - there's way more evidence for them than for the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for example - and everyone knows that exists.
Ive been to Ashtons many times , in the old days when it use to open to outsiders and or you could join the Irish contingent
Its not like ist hey day but still good
