There, you see, it's a completely unnecessary word. And, sorry, I hate it. Send it back across the Atlantic from whence it came.

Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep! Have no idea who sang it but, mum used to sing it all the time when me and Dee were kids.

Oh no that reminds me mum and dad used to sing 'My ding a ling'. They used to laugh so much. Oh me and Dee had such a lovely upbringing

Visage - fade to grey. Used to love this track but, could never really sing along to it.

Disintegration - The Cure. This whole album reminds makes me think of summer! After A levels I went with a group to the Norfolk Broads for a week. We had The Cure on permanent rotation with Vivaldi's Four Seasons and selections from Beethoven and The Sisters of Mercy.

Ain't no doubt - Jimmy Nail. First summer home from Uni, meeting the old gang (including old boyfriend) with new boyfriend in tow.

Bicycle - Queen. Driving my sister mad at the age of 3 or 4 by charging around the house singin this at the top of my voice.

Samba Pa Ti by Santana. Abraxas was the first album I ever bought, because of that track. Started a long love affair of Santana music.

Let's Stay Together by Al Green. Remember going to discos as a teenager when this first came out and I love it as much now as I did then. Still play it occasionaly in my sets.

The classic "three before eight" tracks that got played at the end of all the Wigan casino Northern soul all nighters..

Lady in Red - Chris de Burgh
Buy me a Rose - not sure, got it from a Latin dance CD. Thought it was Kenny Rogers but my version is nicer than his.
Tu quieres volver - Sarah Brightman's version

    Re: Memorable Songs

At a very raucous folk club - a girl sang "the way we were", unaccompanied, straight from the heart. It followed by a long mesmerised silence. Applause would not have been adequate.

At a jam session, the best version I have ever heard of Summertime. Nobody wanted to take the floor to follow it. But there has to be someone that does not recognise the moment, and a girl got up and sang in a variety of original keys "These boots are made for walking." I still cringe when I hear that song.

My definitions of blues dance: What you do when Ottilie Patterson sings "Easy, easy, easy Baby ..."

"The first time ever I saw your face". (Story in lyrical moments)

Allan Higgins giving a long series of mumbled rambling jokes at which nobody laughed. Those not in the know shuffled in their seats, wanting someone else to shout "Get him off". He asked for a copy of the program. The organiser ran frantically around searching for one, muttering "What does he want that for?"
One was found. He fanned himself. He got a laugh. having bonded with his audience he started on his guitar and had shivers all down my spine with his version of "Gypsy woman".

"Would you..." "Fever" for the dances.
