    Ceroc Constabulary?

There are lots of threads on the forum with posts that run along the lines of "such-and-such a behaviour is unacceptable, and we must all band together to prevent it happening, warn or ban the offenders yada yada yada." Usually it's drops, aerials on a social dance floor, smoking, smelly dancers, pervs - but I'm sure there have been others.

Generally I'm against such ideas because the people who say such things terrify me with their unshakeable and absolute conviction that their own standards are the ones that should be imposed on what is a very broad spectrum of dancers.

But if we were as a community (not just the Forum - I mean MJ'ers in toto) to agree that some issues needed 'enforcement' then it stands to reason that we'd need a group of self-sacrificing individuals who could - perhaps on a rota basis - attend each venue and lay down the law, as it were. Some kind of Ceroc Police, or constabulary. We have taxi-dancers, well I'm raising the idea of Ceroconstables. They could have their own special t-shirts, or perhaps special Ceroc pointy helmets. There could even be a plain-clothes branch to weed out gropers and pervs.

So, are you in favour, or against, a group of pricipled souls acting on your behalf? Before you decide, just remember that as in society in general - you don't get to choose which rules are enforced. It's got to be all or nothing, and you yourself might find yourself on the wrong side of the law, one day.

Wasn't there going to be a weekender with a special anti-smoking task force, complete with water pistols? Or was that all a bad dream?

Also, they should be called "police cars".

I think this thread is a convoluted set up to get someone to declare that "The Law Is An Ass", at which point ESG is going to seize control of the Ceroc Constabulary in an attempt to stage a coup d'âne.

    you are joking of course

I should have voted for Andy for Chief of Police - he has the experience as an ex tory politician Mind you, I would hate to think of the new rules he might try and enforce

Well, at the fab Rock Bottoms weekenders they have signs up saying "This is a no smoking venue, if we see smoke we will assume you are on fire, and act accordingly". I think that's fair!

I volunteer to be in the Plain-Clothes Branch (Identification and Suitable Chastisement of Female Gropers/Pervs Sub-branch).

The idea of exposing them* appeals, somehow

    *not the mingers, obviously

(Temptress? Who told you about the operation?)

You can only have a truncheon once you've satisfied me that you know how to use it properly.

Well if you're out dancing next week you'd better keep one about your person in case you bump into me.

Would the HQ be in CerocScotland Yard?

And would there be an MI Jive unit, dedicated to preservation of the Sacred Semi-circle - which is constantly under threat by agents from Leroc and other such subversive organisations?

Many. Passed them all, as far as I know. (It must be all that private study I put in.)

Where's the option to keep things exactly as they are but continue to moan about them?

I like this option. How about a sub-option of a madman proposing a police force that will never come about
