You mean you don't do the chanting in the Dundee coven? No wonder Jo thought it was sinister!

Ah yes, the chanting...the fresh disciples took to reciting the mantra of their new leader with disconcerting ease and familiarity...I was afraid, I think we were all were afraid...

and then we did the move to music, phew!

(Can't remember the words because I froze with fear but it was something along the lines of "In and up and down and out and in and up and down and out and in and up and down and out......." in group monotone...until 'Eek stop! I didn't think you'd really do it!' )

(Is this a fair representation of events? )

I think it was something like "step in; raise; lower; step back", but as each week we leads have a new set of mantras to learn, it's hard to remember them exactly.

OK, I was a bit freaked by it too. Franck must have had his Ceroc mind-control machine turned up a bit too high yesterday.

Well it seems I remembered the motion, see I must have been paying a little bit of attention!

    It isn't easy being a boy-lady (or would I be a man-girl)?

Yep... I wonder if anyone can guess the move based on the mantra (as we recall it.) Three guesses? What do you think?

Sometimes it's just plain difficult being a man or a boy. But you can be one of the guys any time you want...

I still want a go at being one of the girls.

Next week then? And that's my absolute favourite beginners move - I've never seen Franck look so shocked, as he did when everyone actually started to chant with him - priceless

Welcome to the forum Iain and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!

I meant to post earlier, for anyone thinking of going up next week via the A9 from south to north, be warned that the road was pretty busy last Saturday and there were roadworks around the Aviemore area so it might be worth checking the travel news to find out if that's still the case and you can allow a little extra time if necessary.

That was a bit spooky wasn't it?
The chant was: "Pull, Raise, Lower, Back" repeated as many times as required. I have used it before in classes, but never got the response we got in Inverness... Spooky!

As has been said, the open day in Inverness went wonderfully well, and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to JoC, Ducasi, Pet, Sheena, Roz and Ian who travelled all the way and helped out.

Inverness dancers were full of enthusiasm and very keen to learn. The venue is perfect and I can't wait for some more next week (30th July) and for the proper opening on the 1st September.

Now might be a good time to mention the BIG BUSK I'm planning in Inverness on Saturday 27th August. This will be our main promotional busk the week-end before the opening, and it would be great to have as many of you coming to support it.

Re. the road works on the A9, the trick is to take the Aviemore turn off, drive through Aviemore (stop for a quick stretch of the legs / coffee) and then return to the A9. That way you avoid all the queues at the temporary traffic lights.

Thanks again to everyone, and well done to the new Inverness dancers, you were brilliant!
    Franck.

    There's an A.P.P. for that!

It's nearly Inverness time again already!

Spaces in my car available at the moment.

I intend staying over this time so I can get properly comfortable on my beanbag.

Can't make it this weekend, but I can highly recommend it – the location, the dancers, the teacher, the trip up and the company.

I want a full report (including news of any more spooky chanting) when you get back!

Me neither. One of my favourite places in the country, but have agreed other plans.

Where are you staying? Anywhere reasonably cheap? I'm not too rich at the moment, but I fancy going to Inverness to check out this new venue - despite having been invited for a sailing weekend!!!

I'm going to try to suss out a few options tonight/tomorrow... the Waterside isn't the cheapest in the area (though very nice indeed!) so unless they can do a deal I was going to look for something else in the vicinity, there are quite a few B&Bs in that part of Inverness. I'll give you an update tomorrow shall I with some prices?

You'll be missed Ducasi, think we should be chanting by about 3.30pm if you fancy joining in "remotely".
