A few DJs do this - I like that approach myself, it means you can get into a particular style for more than 3 minutes, maybe experiment with a particular combination, etc. And you can spend more than 3 minutes resting / chatting / getting a drink etc. Like all these things, it can be taken to extremes, but 3-4 tracks of the same genre seems about right to me.
