So, you took my advice and made a blog...and you said it was a silly idea
Like the new layout and I see you went to JJ's You can tell me about it tonite

Who else thinks that my wee diary thread just got just a little bit too big and stopped reading it?
Well if you want to read a condensed version of it, plus my continuing thoughts on my dance experience (including my first visit to Jumpin' Jaks tonight) follow this link!
I think it makes more sense to keep a diary-type-of-thing using web log software, rather than in a bulletin board, so in future I'll try to keep all my mega-long diary-type posts over there.
But don't worry, I'll continue to post here!
Oh, and if you find anything that doesn't work properly on the 'blog, please send me a PM.

It was something I had thought about from the start. A couple of downsides are that people (unless they subscribe to the RSS feed) have to speculatively go and read it, not knowing if there's anything new there, plus I have to maintain it, which isn't a trivial burden.Originally Posted by Jazz_Shoes (Ash)
I decided to go for it though as I felt these posts better belonged in a blog-like format. In the forum, although there's lots of people who've said how much they enjoy reading my posts, there's going to be many more who find the length of the posts, plus the length of the thread they're in just too much. Thus, if they aren't going to read them, they might as well not read them in my blog, as not read them on the forums.
One other thing I get with my blog is total control – I decide on the look and feel of the site, I get to add my own smilies if I want to, I can edit my posts at any time and manage the comments as I wish. I get to be the power-crazed omnipotent admin, and I like it!
The layout is just a default – when I'm really bored I'll re-do the blog to match the rest of my web site.Originally Posted by Jazz_Shoes (Ash)

Can somebody please explain in laymans terms what a blog is?Originally Posted by Jazz_Shoes (Ash)

A blog is like an internet diary, which is good for people like me that find it hard to keep a regular oneOriginally Posted by under par
Hope that explains it.
The simplest way of looking at it is as an on-line diary.Originally Posted by under par
"Blog" is a shortened form of "Web log", and a "log", well that's just like the captain's log in Star Trek.
They're fashionable with journalists and wannabes that think just because other "bloggers" are reading what they write that it's going to make a difference to anything.
Me cynical?
As a diary or journal I think they're quite useful – you can keep people up to date with what's going on in your life and at the same time make a record for yourself.
Because of the simplicity and flexibility of a typical blog system, an increasing number of what were custom-built web sites are becoming blogs.
For more than you'd ever want to know about them, consult this page.

Sorry that was me that kept you chatting during first freestyle when you could've been dancing Pity you missed the last half hour, there were some particularly good tunes played! (Or is it because I was just waking up properly then...?) Maybe you can share a lift with some others coming over from Glasgow another time to keep the cost down. Agree trains expensive!
No problem, I was glad to have the rest after Melanie's class. I was only just about ready when we got up to dance.Originally Posted by JoC

Yup, and I found that I was ripped off, but I'll keep my rant on that subject to myself.Originally Posted by JoC
But I do hope to come back soon, maybe sometime in June. Any Glasgow folk going up, do let me know!

Two updates this time. One on my second visit to JJ's, and one about my dancing plans for the rest of the week (i.e. can anyone give me a lift to Edinburgh on Saturday? Please? )
Get 'em while they're hot!

In case you haven't been following, I've posted a few articles on my blog since I last visited this thread.
And tonight I actually managed to write a relatively short post about my night there at JJ's.
Thanks to everyone who has left comments, and thanks to you if you're about to...
Cheers!

Isn't it quiet round here this weekend?
But, hey, who needs Southport to have a good time?
As well as having a great time last night at the Glasgow party, today I'll be enjoying the West End Festival's Opening Parade and Street Party.
How have you been having fun this weekend outside of Southport?
