Having seen Amir perform in bare feet, some people don't need shoes at all! In fact one of the Showcase ladies at the Champs was barefoot too. Come to think of it, when she was carried off by her partner she was nearly bare everything else, but that's for another thread

I'd have to put in a claim for Ginger Rogers' or Rita Hayworths' dance shoes.

But I think I'd rather have Rita Hayworth's hair (anybody else on the forum seen 'Gilda'?)

Well..for all round dance ability.....It has to be Fred Astaire......with Gene Kelly a close second.

Ginger Rogers' shoes for me, that lady had Class however, I would have to dance with the owner of the Fred Astair shoes to be worthy of wearing them

For a modern day dancer, it would have to be Jenny Thomas (Ryan Francois's wife) she is sooooo underated, a wonderful dancer in all dance styles.

    Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)

Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.

Fred Astair was for me the quintessential dancer,
My modern dancer choice is Steve Mitchell so slick and smooth everybody should do one of his classes. I think good shoes and most important leather soles are important for smooth dancing throw the dance trainers in the bin.

Steve Mitchell double my hero, an amazing dancer and IMHO the best dancer teacher I have ever met - he classes are more about style and technique than moves.

He is also a musician, and uses his musical knowledge to teach (eg he sings the timing, instead of counting - such as, "get you haaaat, and get your coooooat etc..." which really helps to link your dancing to the music.

BTW his dance partner Virginee, is French and cute and she too is an excellant teacher, helpng the girls to put style into their moves and she also stresses that followers must follow and helps them to do this

Just wish a MJ organiser would book him for an event

    WOW! This is freaky!
I was in town today with an old chum and we came across footless tights and it reminded me of how I always used to dance in my bare feet when I was at my favourite club. It got me to wondering if I could do that with ceroc? - is it possible to spin in bare feet - I guessed not, but the above quote has now got me wondering again.

I've danced in bare feet - but it was at 6am in Southport blues room when I had taken my dance shoes off and Marc asked me for a dance, I have no recollection of whether I did any spins or not - but it was a lovely dance.

socks on a tiled floor is certainly a fun experience - although the main problem comes from spinning way too fast, coming off balance and landing square on ones behind (Im not speaking from experience at all!! )
