    Talking Futuristic dancing!

How about a big electronic notice board, positioned above the DJ's box (like they have at railway stations or airports) announcing the next 5 tracks and their expected time of arrival?

Paul at Bulwell leaves his laptop out on the table with the playing order in full view. I guess it could be used to plan in a "comfort break" or prebook your favourite dancers for your favourite track, like at Victorian balls. If you weren't too busy dancing to go and read it, that is.

You know, maybe it's my inner geek exposing himself, but I love that idea - especially if you could hook it up to a projector or something.

Maybe in another few years, we'll be able to take our iPod IVs along and download the DJ playlist direct

    Lets go really futuristic

How about recieving up to the minute news flashes of the impending playlist directly to your personal 'wrist set' where you'd have the option of paging/beeping your favorite dancer to pre-book them!

You could send the Dj's a thumbs up/down message which will give the DJ an instant percentage chart of how popular each track is

    Any other silly ideas?

    - DJ sending the music directly into your (and your partner's) ears, via earpieces - you could then choose whether to accept of reject the DJ recommendations, or dance to what you want. Couples could be dancing to different tracks at the same time, that'd be weird to watch...

    - Having a personal playlist, going round trying to interest someone in dancing to your favourite tracks.

    - Having an electronic dance card, with lists of "wannadance to" and partners for those tracks. Actually, that's my favourite, I love the idea of dance cards, I think they should be revived

I just hope Lory remembers to leave it on the floor and not the chair.

With one of these- you should be able to dance, listen to the music and talk to your partner all at the same time

    Re: Futuristic dancing!

I saw a few minutes of "Demolition Man" (Stallone scifi movie) on TV last night - there was a scene where he and Sandra Bullock were "Having sex" by putting on two headphones, then doing some virtual reality thing. I wasn't paying much attention after the headphones bit...

Anyway, how about Virtual Dancing? It's a surefire winner

As long as it was not one of those "clackity clack" ones. We have enough trouble trying to get over the noise of that bl**dy fan at Ashtons, we don't want another obscure noise

We would then get complaints that they were arriving late (leaves on the dancefloor)
    or
that somebody missed their track because of a traffic jam (at the bar maybe),
    or
it left, sorry, got played too early and they were in the loo

How about bluetooth earpieces for everybody, linked to the DJs laptop output.

No need to set up those heavy PA systems any more

Or, sendin the tracks from the laptop to the dancers moblie phones.

    OR

SELECT A DJ on your mobile phone, like tuning in to a radio station.
