    Doctor Who (may contain spoilers)

Seeing as nobody else has mentioned this (apart from the Graham Norton interlude!) I thought I'd start this. What did people think of the new Doctor Who?

I have to say that I enjoyed it. It seemed strange seeing Christopher Eccleston in something that wasn't a serious role but you could see he was trying to do something different with his character. I'm not sure about Billie Piper yet, I'll have to see a couple more episodes before I make up my mind.

I also liked the man eating wheelie bin. The special effects involved in that were well up with the "best" of earlier Doctor Who's.

Yea - you could see the wheelie-bin thing coming a mile off; made me laugh. He reminds me of {the one with the scarf} with all that inane grinning and odd comments.

I liked it - I even video'd it and re-watched it, and it was as good or better the second time around. Billie Piper was pretty good - as good as Ecclestone in her way. Shame her boyfriend survived though, I was rooting for the Wheelie-bin Of Death

Yes, you're going to have to narrow it down a bit more with those criteria

I thought that Rose's (?) clamatic "will I help him, won't I?" was a bit drawn out. I don't envy the doctor an assistant who can't spot a plastic boyfriend and hesitates so long before stepping into the frey.

    Re: Doctor Who

I really enjoyed it! I thought the Doctor was refreshingly different but with enough of the old to have continuity of the character. Billie Piper was actually very good and I liked her character. Even the TARDIS makeover is good. I found the programme to be exciting, funny, sexy and I managed to watch the whole thing without having to dive behind the sofa. (My sister and I actually did that, when Dr Who first started ). The only thing that's different is the way each episode is a complete story. One of the big things with the old Dr Who was that each week ended with a cliff hanger. I too watched the episode twice and it was only the second time through that I realised that the applause and odd voices in the basement scene were breakthroughs from Strictly Dance Fever - D'oh!

It was Colin Baker. I saw him once playing Banquo in "The Scottish Play" at Leicester Haymarket!

    Re: Doctor Who

Well I have to say, as a complete "Dr Who" virgin, that I enjoyed it. Good special effects and even a decent story-line! I must have been more absorbed in it than I thought because I never noticed these "voices" and noises from Graham Norton & co in the background that everyone is commenting on!

With the delish Christopher Ecclestone gone as the doctor, there is talk of David Tennant taking over. Oh well. Couldn't we have Eddie Izzard for the next series? Other thoughts?

I think that they are in talks with someone from their "cassanova" series. (and I did hear that they delibretly didn't want to do the 'transformation' thing with the first of the new series... but it may change with the next I suppose)
