    Crufts 2005

So who's gonna win this big one this year?

Can anyone defeat that awesome whippet "CH COBYCO CALL THE TUNE"?

Age is a question of mind over matter, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter

Don't know about the breed competition at all.

but, my mum is judging the agility and flyball competitions !

There has been loads of work for her making up numerous different courses, and she is a bit nervous about it. She judges a lot of stuff, and trains judges, but this is her most prestigous engagement by a long way. first time they have had a Scottish Judge for agility.

I think she will be on telly on Saturday night.

I would have thought that the red setter with goggles and a scarf would do quite well! But his partner would probably do better, wow, what a coat!

    Hmmmmm...

I sat my dog (border collie by the name of Troll) down in front of the telly for some *ahem* educational tv - obedience world cup.

Unfortunately this didn't seem to quite have the desired effect, and she just kept on throwing slobbery balls at me to throw for her. She's got me well trained....

Anyway..... Any forumites out there who have ever come across a border collie who HATES obedience training? She's now 2 1/2, and still can't walk on heel....... And every time I try do do some obedience training, using HAPPY voice, lots of encouragement, and her favourite foods as treats (which just gets ignored, even if it's ham!), she looks as if she's about to die. Ears down, tail down, head hanging, and she refuses to look at me. Indeed, she looks as if she's had a good beating! People who see her must think I'm the worst dog owner in the world.

When it comes to teaching her things she enjoys (ie agility), she's a very fast learner, and shows real talent and tons of enthusiasm. But obedience....? No way!

Soh...... Any words of wisdom from you lot? Skippy? johnthehappyguy? Anyone?

You need to speak to Nina Daines. Whilst her passion is dancing, her hobby is dog obedience and agility training, and competing in dog agility competitions and displays, with her sheep dogs.

If one was to own a doggy and have it do lots of obedient things obediently, would calling it "Troll" be the most auspicious of starts?!?
