Cool Sex on the Dancefloor ???

OK ... I apologise for the 'News of the World' headline but its not a total con.

Have you ever found that there was someone dancing and when you congratulated them on how nicely they danced they become all embaresed and deny doing anything well. Also, did you ever see a nice dancer and wished you'd given them some praise.

As with life, I think that people are told all too rarely about the things they do well. When it comes to dance I know its a very personal thing but it would be nice if this thread could be just good news ... no putting peoples styles down ... just praising peoples dancing because YOU like it.

This is not the same as 'Heroes' on the dancefloor ... this thread is for Jo Public who you may see every week and who probably doesn't have a great opinion of their own dancing. Its very easy to comment on just how nice a dancer Gilbert is or Fran & Bill ... but what about everyone else?

I'd like to start the ball rolling but must confess that I'm at a disadvantage because I don't know the names of a lot of the dancers. So ... can someone else get the ball rolling?

You don't expect me to remember names do you!? The only time I specifically notice and take note of other's dancing styles is before a class and in the breif time it takes to gulp some water - there are some excelent dancers in Aberdeen - I could point to them, but don't ask me to put names to the faces.
When I glance at other dancers while I'm on the dance floor, it's only really to try and gain some inspiration for my moves - I don't take any particular note of style.

...hmmm...might be quite cool if someone took some photos during a normal class night at all the venues, then Franck (or someone else) could compile a "rogues gallery" for the various venues. (And then you could virtually point to people.) I wonder how many faces would be recurring ?

    ~edited~
Another idea that Franck could look into; members could have the option of up-loading a photo of themselves into there profile so that we all know who to dance with/avoid dancing with* (delete as aplicable)

I also have difficulty with the names !! (Workshops are good for that cos of the wee stickers but you don't get to do freestyle and then by the time you do you've forgotten their name !!)

Anyway to answer your question (and assuming, Gus, this isn't just a ploy of yours to find out all the female talent up here before you come to the party ) here are some of my fave dances(dancers) of all time so far...

Franck - a fantastic bluesy/jazzy song one Monday night a few months ago - it was yummy and Hey Big Spender was fun !!!

Raswan - superb eye-contact !! makes up moves sometimes but hey I can cope with that !!

Blond guy in Edinburgh (sorry don't know your name ) very gentle but sooo in control !! loved that dance at the comps mmmm mellow !!

Roy - I just feel like the only girl in the room - loads of wow moments - perfect leading !! (and perfect height for some very close moves !! )

    John S - more please !!

Niall - just CEROC fun at its best - always have a laugh - what a smile !!!

CJ - mellow, knows the breaks surprise! surprise!! - that Santana one with you is just bliss

Gus- great dance at the comps would have loved another - see you on the 23rd

Brian - Edinburgh - our first dance was Ricky Martin I think and we just clicked

Brian - Glasgow - we are just so cool and sexy (well we both THINK we are hee hee ) and we always have a laugh - roll on Barrhead gala!

Brady MIB hero - dancing with you is just getting better and better and I don't just mean when you are the girl !! hee heeee

Dave - Aberdeen - we can do better really we can !!!I just know there are some wow moments to be had !!

Mark- Aberdeen - at last intermediate workshop - I just know you are going to be fab in freestyle

These are the ones that come to mind right now but there must be loads more... sorry if I've missed you out this time round ...

Not allowed to mention BTC Bill , right ?? You know what we all think of Bill ..... dreamt about him the other night but that's for another thread or even a PM perhaps .....

The funny thing is that some of my fave dancers are also the ones I have disasterous dances with - many a time I've just cringed and thought that the guy must have really hated it and will never dance with me again. Luckily I usually get another go and it turns out OK .

Another strange thing is this forum !!! I was really nervous dancing with people I've spoken to here. (And I've got ErickLondon, Gadget and Curtain to come !!) Can't make up my mind if I had more fun when I just danced with people with no talking. I used to be really quiet at CEROC (no I was!!!). Turned up, danced my socks off and went home. More recently I chat a lot more ... mmm... quite liked the anonimity ... maybe I need a new name/avatar like an Andrex puppy called Snookums and I could express my feminine side a little for a change .... I DO have one - thwackk !!!

    Thumbs up My best boys!

Right Wendy, move over, here's my list.

Like you, I'm sure there are some I've forgotten and like Gadget there are definitely some great dances I've had with people whose names I don't know but they had great smiles.....

Alex - what can I say? He's just wonderful, so good! Such fun! Puts up with all my nonsense, does great seducers very carefully. Takes care of me on the dancefloor and doesn't mind when I tread on his feet with my new shoes (not used to dancing in heels!:sorry ). The shimmy king............

Brian from Dundee - a lovely dancer who doesn't think he is, great lead and now he's relaxing a bit more has a lovely smile.

Steven (the dancing penguin) - has learnt a lot from his old man and is now getting more adventurous. Watch this space - he's going to get better and better.

Gregor - so strong, so in control. Wow!

John Lusby - ooooh those arms - now he DOES look good in a vest!

Dave D - brill! He remembers that lovely slight dip turny thing from V & L and leads it sooooooooooo well. Great at leading the double trouble and fun to dance with.

    John S - Fred Astaire!

Sherwin - the Bombay Bad Boy has the best smile in Dundee. Love dancing the fast ones with him. Superb.

Graham from Glasgow - had a great dance the last party night, looking forward to next Saturday.

The lovely Roy - wonderful, such a good lead, great moves and a cheeky glint in his eye. A party night just isn't complete without a dance or two or three or four.........from Roy.

William from Edinburgh- as Wendy says - mmmm

There is also Brian from Edinburgh who I love to watch especially when he's dancing with Elsie- superb!

Frank - goes without saying - had a total blast with him in Aberdeen on Friday! He loves to dance, what a guy!

Scot - ok, I know, another teacher, but he IS a great dancer although we don't get the chance to dance together often enough.

And then there's the girls :-

I love dancing with Lorna from Aberdeen whether she's leading or I am - she's just a fab dancer and looks so good.

FC - what can I say, the body roll champ! So much style and expression. Great.

Elsie - just so much musical interpretation, a fab dancer and a total loony - my type of girl!

By the way the names are not in any particular order just typed at random - except Alex, of course

Oh, nearly forgot - there was a Chinese chap at Marcos one night - brilliant! and Ash - superb! and some guy called Gus......oh and did I mention Elliot..............

I'll add some girls too but only those I watch cos I'm not a boy in freestyle - too damn hard !!!

Jayne - she looks so light on her feet, easy to lead, can do the ballroom head thing and has an impish smile and high flirt factor in the eye contact department - I can see why she is a favourite with the boys !!

Janet- so tall , so elegant with those bambi legs !! another ballroom head girl and very very sexy in the right hands !!!

Dark Bob, red dress, gold shoes (?) girl at Edinburgh parties, might be from Aberdeen, Laura ??? - she looks perfect - I aspire to be like her - sexy, a little mysterious, bags of style - coming back as her in my next life !!

FC- respect those body rolls, girl, and the flat stomach in those skimpy tops grrrrrr!!!!

Short haired girl from Edinburgh (Elsie I think ?? ) - indeed, gives Brian a run for his money - I can aspire to be like her in this life , just !!

Sheena - (my elected head girl of Ceroc Scotland) - elegant, smiling, stylish, great figure, lovely lady, trousers the boys want to stroke !!! what else can I say !!!

Lydia - let's just say I'm working (really hard and loving it !!!) on just one of her moves !!! (And it's not doing sit-ups although that could help a little !!) Maybe next year I'll try another one !!!Phowaaar !!!

Mairi - lovely sliding footwork - have stolen your side to side thing !! Think some of the boys are scared of you though !!! And hey is that a BAD thing ?????

Fiona - blond Glasgow (where have you been ??? - oh and bring Adrian back !!!) great demo with Franck - always smiles !!! elegant etc etc my first hero as a beginner

Maxine - great smile, looks easy to lead

Fran - long and elegant and slinky - well if Bill has chosen you... you must be .. well BTC !!!

Rachel - love your stylish sticky out hand stuff - and the boys seemd to enjoy your presence up North !!!

Kirsty - great hand out to the side - I'm still practising ...

Elliot's partner at the comps - really skippy and looks like she's having fun (yeh, we'd all be smiling like that, wouldn't we girls !!)

Bet DV and Emma are crackers too !!!

Again am bound to have missed lots out . Even worse at remembering girls' names for some reason ...

Well Gus, I notice that despite being the instigator of this thread, you are yet to provide your own list

As for me, everytime I think about it, my mind short-fuses at the enormity of the task... So many great dances over the last 10 years In fact so many dances over the last 10 days!

Where do I start? Probably with the countless, anonymous beginners I have danced with, I get a buzz every time, and really enjoy every minute of every dance!
Dancing with teachers, is an all too rare treat, but every time I dance with Mairi, Lorna, Kathy, Lisa, Elaine, Alison and of course Obi I always love the experience (especially when they occasionally let me lead )

Wendy, fabulous dancer, and yes I remember that dance too! Brilliant at interpreting the music and improvising.
Janet in Glasgow, so many great sexy dances and bags of style.
Jayne, brilliant fun to dance with, style aplenty and as Wendy says, that cheeky glint in the eye...
Frances, great for those Rock'n roll moments, so stylish and full of energy & fun on the dance floor.
Fiona, my fantastic demonstrator, so easy to lead and fun to dance with (come back soon )
Sheena on Friday in Aberdeen, 3 dances in a row and I could barely walk by the end, so weak at the knees that I was!
FC, at that club in London, we had a ball! You are a total style inspiration.
Sandy in Aberdeen, great for those Bluesy moments
Heather from Dundee, what fun we had (yet again) on Friday, you can really make a man feel 'special'
Kim, taxi-dancer from Aberdeen, I always love our dances, so relaxed and you always look so happy!

Last but not least, Barbara, my wife, with whom I get to dance all too rarely, so stylish and connected, I hope to catch up at the 10th anniversary party

So many more women I would like to name, but, whose name escapes me... (those of you who know me, or who demo-ed with me, will know that names are not my strong point :sorry )

As Sheena says about me, I really enjoy dancing, and every single dance I have had (about 15,000 ??? ) deserves a mention... Not to mention all the dances I am looking forward to next Saturday!

    OK ... there's a fair cop.

This list will be in installments as my ageing memory recalls some the many wonderfull dancers North of the Border ... that and my hangover isn't helping the memory recall at the moment.

Of course there is the Dundee posse (Denise, Heather etc) led by Sheena ... some great dancers but my dances with Sheena have always been a delight .... with a smile like that (and those trousers) how could you not enjoy yourself.

FC ... a great dancer who I'm sure will develop more and more ... still trying to learn half her body movements but think I have more fun just watching her ..

OK .. now I start to struggle with names...

Tall dark haired lass ... danced with at Marcos when I first came up ... Mari-Geisler (??) ... lovely soft dance, great interpretation ... left me wanting more!

Jayne Trixi Belle ... great dances at the Champs .... great fun

The lady who grabbed me for a dance on the carpet as I was leaving the Champs .... not the best surface and I was shattered ... but will still had a great blast ... next time we must make more time

Fran ... one of the loveliest dancers I've had the pleasure of escorting onto to the dancefloor ... even BTC doesn't deserve you.

Laura (I think) ... some of the best UCP dancing I've ever enjoyed at my last visit to Marco's ... I'm sure that some of the moves she used have been banned by the Brtiish Censorship Board but it left me with a smile.

Sorry ladies ... I know there are others I've had the pleasure with ..... just refresh my memory at the 10 year party as long as I haven't offended you by forgetting.

Instalments definitely, already, reading your list, I realise the glaring omissions in mine

    So apologies to

Fran, with whom I used to dance a lot in Edinburgh, and who always made me look good...

Denise from Dundee, wow, what a fabulous dancer and personality to boot, was hoping for 2 dances in Hammersmith, but only managed the one, so popular she was with the (notoriously picky) London crowd

Laura in Aberdeen, very sexy dancer and natural mover...

More to come in further posts, as names and memories hit me...

    Franck.

Oh, alright then. Profound apologies to anyone whose name I've forgotten....going back to a thread several months ago, there are a couple of people I dance with virtually every time we see each other, but I'm too embarrassed to ask them to remind me for the umpteenth time what their name is. There are three in particular I really want to mention, but rather than give a description I'll just ask them their names next time and give another installment. Maybe I'll also be able to list some more after the party!

Andrea (sp?) - first really good dancer I was able to dance with and not feel completely intimidated. Excellent at adjusting to the level of her partner, easy to lead and I always enjoy our dances.

Carol (sp?) - taxi dancer from Glasgow. Only danced together a few times, but it's always been fun. Last track at the last Glasgow party was the last time, and really nice - more than made up for being shunned by my lovely wife :reallymad

Clare (sp?) from Glasgow. Fantastic to dance with - first person to really show me how to let the girl improvise, and I still always manage this much better with her than anyone else.

Frances from Glasgow - What a hoot! Definitely enjoys herself, and always great fun to dance with!

Janet - Another dancer who really helps me improve. Echoing the previous comments, sexy and fun to dance with.

Jayne - Since she managed to stop giggling at me when we danced (I'm told I look too serious, even when I'm trying to smile, although of course I can't be sure that's what she found so amusing ) I've really enjoyed our dances. Definitely endorse the glint in the eye thing, and like Janet, bags of control and stylish movement.

Linda - taxi dancer from Glasgow - always smiling, and very easy to lead to almost any pace of track.

Mairi - Great to watch, and fun to dance with - shows up weaknesses in my lead if nothing else!!

Maxine - Wendy was right - really nice to dance with. "Soft" without being wishy-washy.

Rowan from Edinburgh - enjoyed every single dance we've had - another one's well overdue!

Sharon from Glasgow - Another great smiler, and always looks as if she's really enjoying our dances!

Sheena - what can I say? - looks great, feels great (to lead, I mean :sorry , although those trousers..... )

That's all I can think of for now!

    ohhhh please, no!

Hi, just like to say that this thread makes me CRINGE! Oh, no, please!

Shall we say thank you all for being such wonderful people? NO!

It smells of sucking up to people's egos. Or lack of of one!

    Sorry chaps, but true.

    Hi Val

How cynical !!! Really don't agree. It can be very hard to give compliments in real life and even harder to accept them graciously. So personally, I find it quite liberating to be given the opportunity in cyber life.

Up to you . Here's a chance to say what you think .... something made you read this thread in the first place..... wonder what it was....

I whole heartedly agree with Wendy

And at least its not as sickenenly cringeworthy as the 'Dance Heroes' thread which really was OTT. ( I think Franck would censor what I really think so I'll restrain myself on this occasion)
There's nothing wrong with giving praise where its due, but most of the people I dance with KNOW when I have enjoyed it because I TELL them. I'm still working on my list, and will post it when its ready!!!!!

    Heather,

PS. would everyone STOP posting on the Forum so I can get off here and get to my bed!!!!!!LOL
