go to Gameplay.com order Half Life 2 for £27 and be blown away by a game that makes Halo look like an etch-a-sketch simulator.
FINALLY finished Halo (on the PC) the other night. That one game has been responsible for more late nights than any dancing or female interest for the last 2 months. I've played a few FPS before but finally understand what all the fuss about Halo was. It was truly an AWESOME game ... and now its gone My life is without meaning, there is nothing left to do in the evenings ... I've even started going dancing again .... but then a slim chance of redemption HALO 2 .... but what is this cruel trick of the Gods ... its only on the X-BOX When oh when will this be available on my beloved PC and once more sanity will return to my life?

Is there life after HALO?
Yes - but you have to get one...
Never got in to Half Life ... not my cup of tea .... its just a Doom 3 wannabe (lights Blue Smurf-paper and waits for explosion )Originally Posted by Dreadful Scathe

Very succesfully removes the need to have a real life or the desire for alcohol or sustinence (except for chocolate Hob Nobs),Originally Posted by Lounge Lizard

Half Life is years old, I was talking about Half Life 2 which is not long out. Its the best FPS to date with a story better than most Hollywood films (though to be honest the story isnt quite as good as the original). Doom 3 is a shootup with nice graphics*, which is fine if you like that sort of thing.Originally Posted by Gus
If you like Halo but HL or HL2 is 'not your cup of tea' then either a) you're insane or b) you've not played them
* but HL2 beats Doom 3 for graphics too.
Gus, have you finished it on the hardest difficulty yet? If not, you can still have a purpose in life...
ah so you give a lady chocolate and she does a good turn
Ahhh ... nothing like the cut and thrust of a well argued and cogent explanation of the many and varied factors affecting personal choice and philosophy of gaming entertainmentOriginally Posted by Dreadful Scathe
Seen the demo's of HL2 ... as I said before ... didnt do anything for me. To be honest, after Halo I've not even had much inclination to dig out my previous fave, UT2004 out. Ho Hum, suppose I should get down to Will's level, get out my Playstation and get in a few hours practice on the dance mat.
I tried that once, but the game kept trying to teach me footwork, and that put me off. I'm holding out for the release of "Dance UK - Modern Jive", where you just stand in the center of the mat and bounce...Originally Posted by Gus
How do HL2 and UT2004 compare with Far Cry (which I'm working my way through at the moment)?
FC is my first FPS since Doom 2, so it's blown me away so far.

And there I was thinking it was the move you were trying to do with Lily when she slipped, falling to land on your lap - the move thereafter became known as the donut.Originally Posted by DavidB
UT 2004 is great but not very story driven, it being a team play tournament n'all , and graphically showing its age a bit. A great game though, especially with vehicles
Far Cry looks fantastic and has a reasonable story. Had great fun playing it.
Half Life 2 has a great story and looks as good as Far Cry but with less trees The physics in Half Life also have to be seen to be believed, extremely realistic. You also get CounterStrike:Source free which is THE best online game ever . Anyone want to start a CS clan ?
Doom 3 is also very good, more like playing a horror film sometimes and its very linear but thats part of its charm.
And yes I can compare them fully - I have completed them all.
Don't knock it. If you want to win a dance competition, that's where the hard work starts! There ain't nothing Barishnikov knows that "Dance UK" on the Playstation 2 can't teach you!Originally Posted by Gus

I'm married to a Championship Football Manager moron!
At least that leaves me to go shopping without any comment and he doesn't notice the new shoes being smuggled in when he's glued to the computer screen
It beats having to watch football on the TV aswell
