    Lindy moves

Maybe a bit off-topic, but has anyone got any links to sites which describe the basic lindy moves? All I can find is people advertising classes, or articles which explain how hard lindy is to learn! I've found a class, but I think some extra homework might be worthwhile!

    Hi Sean

There are quite a few descriptions floating around. One thing you'll come across is that there are lots of ways of doing some of the basic steps. And what you find online might not tally with what you've taught.

    Try http://www.jitterbuzz.com/curric.html as a starter

    Cheers

    There's: http://www.lindybaby.com -- but might not be a beginner's move

There's the book: Lets Lindy. Simon Selmon. Dance Books Ltd., 9 Cecil Court, London, WC2N 4EZ, 1993. ISBN 1852730390.

Also Frankie Manning has a series of videos that could well help -- you can probably get them from http://www.kingdomofdance.co.uk

It's apparently gone offline at the moment, but when it comes back:

    http://www.how2dance.com/

It's got a series of videos and audio commentary, demonstrating the basic Lindy moves done with a clean, minimalistic style, each from four different angles.

Thanks for those - enough to get me over some of the learning curve at least. how2dance looks very useful!

    Re: Lindy moves

Thanks for the plug for my site. Let me know if there are any moves you want or know of. We add 6-8 moves every couple of weeks (we are trying to speed up that process), and come january we are going to have a lot more dances represented.

I hope the site helps you.

I've just gone back to have another look at that site, and it's got even more content now. It's also got a West Coast Swing section now, which I'm sure will interest the folks we have who are learning WCS basics. I'll probably spend some time looking through it all, anyway.

H2D is a good little site but it's worth noting that for Lindy they demostrate Dean Collins style (I've no axe to grind there, it's just that some moves may be confusing if you learn Savoy style normally)

idance.net has loads of stuff but is "pay to watch"

since the end of March I've been logging the moves in the Bristol Lindy Hop class on this thread
