I dont want to appear stupid, but can anyone explain what the little box under your Advatar is, entitled Reputation? as ive noticed some people have more power points than others etc

The green 'pips' relate to the amount of "power" the forumite has. see the following threads...

So how would you know if someone has given you a negative or positive?.. Maybe i should'nt of started this as im none the wiser

if you've received any reputation, then you can click on the 'User cp' link at the top left of the page. This will take you to your user control panel (where you edit your settings etc...) and you will see the green / red dots with attached comments.
You can only see the last 4 comments, and unless you upgrade to Silver membership (by clicking on the 'Paid Subscriptions' link on the left of your User cp) the rep will be (semi) anonymous, unless they signed it.
