    Unusual Dance Venues

Wanted: Surrey-based detective looking for amazing venues.

I happened upon a Radio 4 programme yesterday (new phone with built in radio is great fun ), they were talking about an underwater ballroom built by some eccentric millionaire called Whitacker Wright in his estate. The estate was called Lea Park (now Wisley Park?) which is somewhere in Surrey, and the thing was basically an underwater conservatory.

The only info I could find online was a Guardian article which suggests that the ballroom wasn't underwater but the smoking room was.

Anyway, the radio show is still available to listen to online somewhere here, maybe someone should check in case I was hearing things inside my head (well, the voices were quiet for a change... ).

Just to make a subject out of this, anyone know of any strange dance venues?

Cue Andy McG to suggest that they all should be?

(The article says Witley Park, which is not open to the public.)

Before it closed some years ago, our local lido hosted an underwater gig, I've no idea how it worked as we couldn't go The band, appropriately named "The Deep Sea Jivers" were also the band that got me into dancing, I do have a promo video of them playing underwater, filmed in an aquarium, a problem for the bass guitarist as she had a fish phobia!

Lory - lots of room, so no excuse not to have a few different rooms (inc of course the Blues room )

I wouldn't know how to book it or perhaps even them. But roughly 1999 I went to a Ceroc related Ball at the Imperial War Museum in London. Superb dancing in between the tanks etc.
