oxford street (or regent street cant remember which one) in London - did an impromptu dance in front of the 'Jive Aces' (who just happened to be playing) gathered a crowd of about 60 or so before i even noticed.
Was practising a new move in the park on Sunday evening (a dance move! behave!) and it started me thinking about other places people have danced - aside from a dancefloor, class or at home. My regular dance partner and I have also practiced on a beach (not good for spinning though!), and in a forest. I don't nessecarily mean long periods of dancing - I mean those impulsive moments too.
On Fri night we are going on a 'Steam & Jazz' evening and will be travelling by steam train to where a jazz band will be playing at a station - so plan to do some dancing on the platform beside the steam engine.
Anyone else danced in unusual or interesting places?

Was at a ceilidh and did an impromptu jive dance - drew some attention - and recruited about 1/2 dozen new dancers who are still regulars Not as good as yours though!Originally Posted by Dreadful Scathe

Drew a few funny looks in my shorts.
A Pub Car Park with a friend. It didn't draw that many funny looks as it was after closing time!
My local Waitrose!
I met a regular from my local dance venue, (Jeff, red braces, black and white shoes and flamboyant style, I'm sure some of you must know him) he spotted me down one of the isles and grabbed me for a few moves!
It certainly caused a few smiles!

Oh yeah! Supermarket floors are great for spinning!! And tap dancing! There's me trying to dance with Marc, tins of beans in my hands and elbows clasping huge wads of of plastic bags for recycling (which, for some reason, seems to really embarrass him) ... And he's the one freewheeling it with the trolley down the aisles!!Originally Posted by Lory

I quickstepped the entire length of our University campus in my second year (at about 3am).
Ceroced in Kingston town centre (SW London), randomly joining in with a group of buskers.
Tangoed in Royal Victoria Park, Bath - impromptu with my dancing partner, and a random guy came up and started playing a Tango on his guitarre for us to dance to!
And Vienese Waltzed the length of the dock in Juno, Alaska (which made me very dizzy and got me more than a few funny looks!)
Hey, this thread is fun! Come on guys, what other wierd places have you danced in???!
I'm all curious now!!!

Leroy (Satchel) Paige (1906-1982)
Mickey Mouse's girlfriend, Minnie, made her film debut, along with Mickey, in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928.
That date is recognized as her official birthday.
On the top floor of a cruise ship, about 100ft above the sea, procariously close to the edge at times Was great fun and we even got the odd clap
Yeah, I once practiced a few drops with someone whilst waiting at the supermarket checkout...Originally Posted by Lory

Can't actually remember exactly where we were at that point. Travelling from Italy to France.Originally Posted by Sparkles
Also danced in a remote West African village to just drums - though it certainly wasn't MJ! The women just got to shuffle round - but the men got to do fancy spinning stuff.
I imagined someone doing a 'single' clap!Originally Posted by Dreadful Scathe
Sorry Pammie but I did give you positive rep for that line, for making me laugh!

actually, it was from behind the safety of glass so I couldn't even hear the clap.... maybe it was one of those fake ones. You know where there isn't really a clap at all, just hands touching lightly, with someone going "Yeahhhhh, Suckers!!!!" under their breathOriginally Posted by Lory
Stood on the docks in Cozumel, Mexico with brandy cocktail inone hand and Sal in the other - got a few puzzled looks but many more appreciative claps....
Adam's garden last weekend at 1.30am (UrbanMetro had a few cases of champagne to drink)...
The Mayors Parlour in Islington....don't ask

Bernard Manning's Embassy Club in Manchester...

Oh so many options, but one of the most memorable was in the Kangaroo Bar in St. Anton, wearing ski boots. We weren't dancing on the tables that time.
One of my best memories of others dancing was Andy and Rena, dancing IN the sea at the very first Beach Boogie, if I'm organised, maybe I'll get the video out for display at this years BB. Also Andy and Rena dancing (including aerials) in roller blades
