    Your ideal venue / evening

Andy's thread on venues got me thinking - So

What is your idea Ceroc night.

For me it is going to be close to Hipsters Tuesday minus the Lindy.

    2 great classes
    1 style 8pm to 8:45
    1 advanced 9 to 9:30 (9:40 latest)
Dancing until 11:30 with a profficient DJ who has a strong handle on interpretive music and what works locally (anything works locally if the teachers and DJ works together).
Teachers would have to be good and very experienced (a rare commodity) Good would equal, crowd control, personality, varying voice tones and inflections, ability to break down moves proficiently and a forward thinking approach.

Of course this would attract better dancers - me I would normally turn up for the freestyle and occationally for the lessons if feeling social.

As for me, I have tried to encorage the local dance company owners to do this, they go part way, then have "droped the ball" through lack of personal input or lack of knowledge of dance forms and musicality.

This of course is my personal opinion, or as they say IMHO

But IMHO, Wednesday is actually the best night at Hipsters. Even us jaded MJers learn completely new stuff

The first lesson we got taught how to walk - I thought I could do that 'til I had the lesson

Starting at the basics are good...

Did find with Janet that she had been taught "Ceroc" what she had not been told to do was "dance" particularly "oh no advanced dancers do not do that"
    So sad....

Re-learning is twice as hard, but at least there are people out there willing help...

What I found demoing with Lisa in Scotland was how different she danced as to how she was told to teach.
    Worlds apart.

What I always strive to do is teach how I "dance" particularly in intermediate or advanced or workshops.

Ceroc often limits this as you have to stick to "the formula"
