When one gets a compliment like this, nothing is ever quite the same. It is humbling in the most profound way. Glad this wonderful person put the compliment on paper (email) otherwise it would have been tricky to remember.
First time this is being shared in over 2 years.
When ever I feel sad for one reason or another, I just read this email, feels me up with warmth.
Thank you, whoever you are... ...
Blimey makes 'wow you're good' seem like an insult!Originally Posted by Dancing Teeth

My two favourites (but there have been many) - I just love compliments
1) Where have you been all my life and why haven't I seen you before? Do you go to any dance weekenders?
And I still wasn't up to asking her for her number (and she was gorgeous!) Move over ESG, there's a new donkey in town!
2) Random guy stops me after dancing with someone and says that I was incredible to watch.
My jaw hit the floor (the first time) I am still on cloud nine (hundred).

A weird one from a Nameless Forumite this weekend:
"After dancing with DavidJames, a girl needs to get her towel and go to the bathroom"
- or something like that. And no, I didn't quite understand it either, but I think it was a compliment...
It could mean many things, it could be that she's nearly wet herself laughing, she needs to wash the smell of B.O off her arms Sorry DJ that was mean, I'm sure it was meant as a compliment and she just needed to cool down.Originally Posted by DavidJames
Yep, that was probably itOriginally Posted by Cruella

Yes - apparently I was supposed toOriginally Posted by wittybird
I'm sure I would have, had I actually understood it, but as it was, I apparently looked unjustifiably
Although to Wittybird for keeping a straight face when That Person was trying to tell her "You really must dance with him", after having had the last 3 dances with me...
But I still think my ultimate wind-up is keeping a straight face when a lovely forumette tried to tell me about this thing called the "Ceroc Scotland Forum", after I innocently enquired why she was wearing a label on Friday night. There are benefits to being incognito
(Sorry, but it was too good an opportunity to miss )
I had one girl tell me at camber 'why the f*** dont guys like you dance in kent'
another 'wish you danced in ***' i cant remember where
Its always nice to get and give compliments
for me its nicer to give a compliment when i mean it
I am obviously not cutting the mustard down here in Kent then.Originally Posted by stewart38

Not strictly a dance related compliment but..... Dawn and I approached Sarah Johnson (in the Camber lobby) as she was selling her calendars for her charity (an orphanage in africa). A lady by her side pointed at the picture of me on the calendar and said "I would like one of him at home". I told her that for a donation to charity that it could be arranged. She looked at me, then back at the photo, back at me, then at Dawn by my side who said "aren't I a lucky girl then?". Poor Sarah - I think I lost her a sale as the lady mumbled and rushed off.
Serious note. Buy one of these calendars. There are some great pictures of dance teachers (I really like the one of Adam and Tas) and you can mark all those dance weekenders and events that you just don't want to forget to book for.
Last night at my beginners Argentinean Tango class, another beginner asked me how many YEARS I had been dancing
I have only been dancing AT 3 months
I still have a grin on my face
Just shows how the odd word of praise, can boost a beginners confidence

Not good, I would say.Originally Posted by Msfab
Imagine being told you were 'functional' in bed and it's probably a similar reaction.
