You could always try the lonely hearts columns...

    Something like

"young good looking great dancer seeks good looking slim pretty female with small feet.
photo supplied on request location not a problem"

    Might be worth a try...

It's a really hard one - the only way to know is to be there I think . . .

It may get worse before it gets better . . .

Meanwhile you might enjoy browsing this site -
dance relationships (It's also an interesting and very large site on a zillion and one aspects of dance - salsa orientated but much of it goes for any partner dance scene.)

Then there was a nice article in the NZ Ceroc Newsletter:

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS FOR YOUR LOVE LIFE
    By Jayne Fisher

Here are ten resolutions I put together to help you in your goal of finding and keeping a great loving relationship!

I will get out more. The chances are higher of meeting someone interesting when you expand your social horizons. Classes, volunteer work, asking friends for help... the more effort you put out, the better your chances. Go out into the world and be seen. That perfect someone may be out there just waiting to meet you.

I will have more dinner parties. This is a great way to meet people. You can take turns with a small group, each hosting a dinner party at yours or their place every week or so, with the rule that at least one or two single outsiders are invited to the dinner every time.

I will work on eliminating my own annoying habits. Nobody is perfect, especially me. For example: I tend to interrupt people mid sentence, it drives them crazy, and I hate doing it. I really need to focus on becoming a better listener.

I will refuse to put up with flaky behaviour. If he doesn’t call when he says he will, or she keeps cancelling date after date, then move on. These resolutions are about creating a better love life, and if that means cleaning house, then so be it.

I will work on getting in shape. We all wish for optimum health and body image, but it isn’t easy finding the time and motivation. If you have someone in your life right now, you could work out together.

I will create more quality time with my partner. Wednesday evening could be movie night. Turn chores into a fun event. Pick something you both enjoy doing together and relish your time together.

I will share more sunsets, country walks and candlelight with my lover. Think back to the days when life was simpler, before electricity or television. The simplest things were a comfort, like reading a book by firelight or cooking from scratch.

I will not settle for less than I deserve. This needs no explanation. Stick to it, and your chances for happiness will expand greatly.

I will tell my lover everyday how much he/she means to me and seal it with a kiss!

Best of luck! - and take care of yourself

    Poor u Tricky
Of course I can give advice but not take my own advice.

Don't expect too much of yourself....allow yourself to grieve over this, it is like a bereavement, a loss of your future plans and security.Give yourself time. Expect to be miserable for a while.

Try not to contact her or accidentally bump in to her- this only keeps refuelling your forlorn hopes, and rekindling your love, but this is easier said than done.It is torture:sorry

Try and find things to do, even though your heart is breaking, it helps to be with people, even if you don't want to,try to let them know how you are feeling- but don't depress them!

Treat yourself to something if you can afford it, praps something you've wanted for a while.

Have a look around for any potential 'love interests' even though you might not be interested at the moment. DONT go on about your broken relationship.

Gorge yourself on chocolate peanuts until you are sick, then you can really feel sorry for yourself.

DON'T watch depressing movies and play depressing songs. I suggest the following.
    Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
    Mary poppins.
The sound of music (sing along loudly)

    Hope this helps,
    Fruitcake

Time, tricky, time. It seems bloody awful at the moment, but it will get better.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt (I think we all have). It sucks

Some good advice above as well. Except possibly fruitcake's suggestion that you watch "The Sound of Music"

What a interesting site with a quote

"Even after a complete commitment, or marriage, the problems deepen. The smallest of issues are magnified one-hundred fold. I've seen countless more divorces than marriages in the dance scene - from a 99 to 1 standpoint. The temptations in the dance world are simply too much to bear. Many dancers remain single the rest of their lives, or at least until they've quit dancing, have aged, and learned it all the hard way"

How many women and men on this forum over 35 are married and/or been with current partner for more then 3yrs

    Sometimes...

    ... but not often...

a good hard shag does the trick.

Time, my friend, and some good friends will make all the difference.

OK first reply was a bit flippant and had a humour bias.

Me, took me a year, did a complete lifestyle change and moved to Aus.

Still a bit wary of the relationship/opposite sex thing.

Good luck, if I had the answers I would write a book and become rich

Time and a positive outlook, life can again be great fun.

Not sure about another lifetime patner, not ruling it out though - sure have a lot of new "lifetime" friends.

Lots of females who seek out my company and lots of great supportive male friends.

    You are not alone.

Today is a gift, that's why it is called the "present"

To be honest at this stage, it is tough, seek out good friends and enjoy thier company.

That was a quote off a web site

My real view would be date two women at once. If one dumps you then fall back on the other ?

On a serious note time heals unless you haven't dealt with your 'toxic shame' accoridng to bradshaw ?

Probably won't help in the long term, but hey, you had a good time trying
