That's because, unlike the Souther Jive Forum (where it seems to work well), you don't allow organizers to post their events. So why don't you let organizers PM you with their events on Monday and then you will have a list to create a poll from on Tuesday? That way everyone knows what's going on, the events list will be more comprehensive, and then Forum members can post and vote accordingly. On this basis it's not really advertising as organizers can still not post in the thread and all details are sent to you in advance by PM latest on Monday evening by say 10pm?

I wish they would do this too - On a weekend like this where it appears there is not much on - I might be missing something that I would enjoy.

    Sounds like a good idea.

The polls have definitely been quieter the past couple of months, and giving them a bit of a boost would be helpful.

How are the 25 events in the poll going to be selected? There are at least 50 freestyles this weekend, when there's "not much on".
I doubt many people only look at the forum when deciding where to dance each weekend.

Following Rocky's suggestion, the moderating team have decided to allow organisers to mention their own events for these polls, on a trial basis. Rather than using PMs, organisers would be allowed to post limited information about their own events.

Information posted by an organiser must be a post in the format below:
    Day - Event - Venue/Location

Information the {Event} part should be limited to the name of the event, name of the organiser/franchise, and one or two other factual details such as number of rooms, late finish, fancy dress theme.

There must be no additional advertising comments such as "It's going to be fantastic" etc.

Moderators reserve the right to choose which events would be included in the polls, and to edit details as they see fit.

There is no change to rules on organisers (or crew or friends) advertising events outside of these threads, any such adverts in other threads will be removed.
    Love dance, will travel

Can we say "It's Going To Be The Best Event Evah!" also? Because that's always the part of the information I most enjoy reading...
