    ladies leading

I have been dancing about 10 months (following) and tried leading in the beginners class last nite. I really enjoyed it but found it hard to remember to catch with my left hand and kept reverting back to a follows hand grip.
The guy who agreed to be my follow for the class was great but he is about 8 inches taller than me so I found some of the moves a bit of a stretch. So is there any tips that anyone can give me? or moves to be avoided if the follow is much taller than the lead?

Stay fairly close to your partner, which will make the 'bit of a stretch' moves a lot easier.
Take small steps, which will often help you stay close (so if, for example, you find yourself stepping away from your partner ending in a dead straight arm, something like an underarm turn gets much tougher to execute. Keep closer, keep your arm bent.)

Dance your height. In other word, don't try to compensate for a big height difference by standing on tiptoe or stretching or contorting your body up, no matter the temptation to do so. The same applies to very tall leaders (or followers) who can be tempted to hunch over to compensate.
