Gutted, I always thought Claudia was Fab, terribly dancer but she had a great repartee with Len
So.......the news is that Zoe Ball will take over from Winkle on SCD2 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/strictlycomedancing/2011/07/new-it-takes-two-presenter.shtml
What do you think?
Pros are:
- at least she will be able to dance with Len in his masterclass
Cons:
- maybe not as quick witted or fast paced as the Winkle
Neutral:
- still plenty of gush and sychophancy on tap as needed
Gutted, I always thought Claudia was Fab, terribly dancer but she had a great repartee with Len
I liked Claudia but I also like Zoe and at least she'll be a little bit clued up, where the dancing's concerned

Claudia was fantastic up until a couple of years ago, but she was definitely fading last year - frankly, she looked bored with the whole thing. The joy of watching Claudia was the knowledge (and occasional display) of her razor-sharp wit and keen mind, hiding behind the ditzy exterior. Unfortunately, last year we simply saw the ditzy bit.
So it's probably a good thing to have someone new taking over. Dunno how Ms Ball will do, I've not seen / heard her work as a presenter, but most of this stuff is pre-scripted anyway.
I hated SCD last year. It went from being one of my favourite programmes from being a something I could not be bothered to watch. Hated the way they dumbed it down by having them run up stairs and then giving the results to us like we all have attention deficit. So I did not bother to watch SCD take 2, which up to them I had watched avidly because of Claudia's razor sharp wit.
So this year looks like I wont bother with either
When I saw Claudia on the telly the other day she was HUGELY pregnant so I'm guessing that she's giving up ITT because of that. I don't know if it's just a maternity leave or if she thinks it's time to move on. I love Claudia on ITT & I thought last year had some of the best segments ever so I don't feel she was going off the boil.
As for Zoe - I like her but I'm not sure about 5 nights a week
Possible celebrity names for 2011 from the latest whispers on the rumour mill (OK, the tabloids mostly);
Sara Cox
Richard Madeley
Camile Coduri
Theo Paphtis
Amanda Byram
Chris Tarrant
Amanda Burton
Alex Jones
Chemey Alcott
Mel Giedroyc
Daniel Lobb
Georgia Taylor
Fern Britton
There have also been slightly less credible rumours about;
Pippa Middleton
Miranda Hart
Peter Mandelson
Camile Coduri - actress, best known as Rose Tyler's mum in Dr. Who
Amanda Byram - TV presenter
Chemey Alcott - Downhill skier (British)
Mel Giedroyc - Comedian, previously one half of Mel and Sue (Perkins) (who can forget "Late Lunch")
Daniel Lobb - Sky TV sports presenter and ex tennis player
Georgia Taylor - Soap actress, was Coronation Street, now Casualty.
Look, I only know because I looked them up out of curiosity, OK.

Rumour update;
Peter Mandelson said no apparently as did John Prescott so this year's ex politician is to be Edwina Curry
Other confirmed names are said to be;
Jason Donovan
Alex Jones
Chris Tarrant
Nancy Dell'Olio
Holly Valance
Robbie Savage
Chemmy Alcott
Other possibles still being talked about are Russell Grant (if fit enough!), Anita Dobson, Ricky Hatton, Georgia Taylor, Daniel Lobb, Theo Paphtis and Mel Giedroyc.
There will also probably be at least one other TV presenter, the most favoured candidates being Richard Madeley, Fern Britton or Carol Kirkwood. There is also talk of a TV chef such as Greg Wallace or Gino Dicampo.
Should know the actual line up in another week or so.
Haven't been on here since I had my baby and stopped dancing, but saw a link on DavidY's FB and found a SCD thread started. Woo...something I will be able to keep up to date on!
Zoe Ball - not sure I'll be able to stick her for the 5 days, although I have to agree with others that CW was getting a tad annoying last season (and as for the results show, I really hope they get rid of that). Also, the whole format with the 'Len's masterclass' etc will have to change, given she'll know it. Maybe we'll get more serious information into the actual dancing etc?
In terms of possible contestants, again don't know a few of them even with LostLeader's information (but was pleased I knew who Chemmy Alcott and Daniel Lobb were - not really celebs, but I suppose Chemmy is 'famous' enough to be advertising Tag watches).
There was a throwaway comment the other day on The One Show about Alex Jones, so presumably that's a more definite than some of the others.
From today's Sun...
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...-revealed.html
They've got
Harry Judd
Chelsee Healey
Rory Bremner
Edwina Currie
Dan Lobb
Nancy Dell'Olio
Jason Donovan
Alex Jones
Russell Grant
Holly Valance
Audley Harrison
Anita Dobson
Interesting. As usual there are some people I've never heard of though.
I wonder who will be the new John Sergeant / Anne Widdecombe - Russell Grant, perhaps?
Apparently the official lineup will be announced on the One Show tonight.
Predictions (checked with Russell Grant):
1. A judge will at some point exhort Alex Jones to "let go" and "bring out your personality".
2. Lulu will do well and a judge will say at some point: "Lulu: that makes me want to SHOUT." and/or "you are a little Scottish firecracker".
3. Nancy Dell'Olio will shag her dance partner and will be described as "sultry" if she gets as far as doing a Rumba.
4. Anita Dobson will dance to a Queen song at some point (Bo Rap anyone?)
5. Russell Grant will wear pink at some point.
