    The wonderfull, the milongas

The bad, the DJ upstairs on Sat night, cleared the dance floor

The ugly, having a woman abandon me half way through a tune, a little rude

I don't think there's any point in, as you say, repeating stuff that hasn't changed.

Everyone knows the basic layout and timetable of Camber and SP, they know what the accommodation's basically like too etc, so the only thing we can really talk about, are any 'differences', good or bad that we noticed.

Mind you aftermath reports of new weekender venues such as JA Hemsby will be welcome.
Now this is a different story. A brand new weekender and 'no one' knows anything much about it. The most I've heard, is from your report but how it'll work out as a dance venue will be very interesting indeed.

I'm going and I will endeavour to write a full and comprehensive, unbiased review of the whole weekend on my return.

    This will include..

    *Check-in and 'welcome'
    *Accommodation and distance from venue
*Layout and ease of accessibility to each room
    *Flooring
    *Bar service
    *Quality of music and sound
    *Air-con
*Time table (although I do know in advance, I wont be doing many, if any, classes. So you'll have to rely on others for that.)
*The kind of atmosphere created - i.e, does if feel snooty and cold or friendly and welcoming (this will definitely be the most important factor for me. I'm a friendly kinda gal, who likes to be asked to dance and see smiling faces. Too much serious coolness, does my head in )
*The food and service - this will be very interesting for me, as I've never done a 'catered' weekender before and I'm quite looking forward to that aspect of it

    So, hows that Trev?

He had 2 slots of an hour each but when it was organized the Elvis impersonator was supposed to go on during this time at some point, but because of other circumstances Elvis left the building early.

And I'm sorry, but there's nothing Ceroc can do about 'Ugly' women - but I would just say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you ain't no oil painting yourself..

Good: Accomodation was literally overlooking the pub and seemed to have everything it should have. Amazing dances in the chill out zone. Spent lots of time with friends. Enjoyed the classes I did and appreciated the rain on Sunday which meant more people for the afternoon freestyle. Loads of good things contributed to a fab weekend!!!

Bad: Going home on Sunday (as always)

Ugly: Main room. It was my other half's first time at Camber and I was hoping it would be a chance for him to really get into it. I even went prepared to sacrifice time in the chill out room and go to the main room so that he would dance more...or so I thought...I don't know where to begin with Saturday night's music so I will just politely say it wasn't to my taste

Had a rather good chalet for a change and it was great having to not put on the heaters - also only spent £5 on electric for the whole weekend as opposed to spending £15 at southport for 2 nights.

Saturday night main room was a bit of a miss for me - every track that came on that i got up to dance to started jumping sunday definately made up for it tho

Coming 2nd in the quiz and winning "5 whole Pontins Pounds"

And was also very flattered by the amount of people that asked why we didnt do a doubles class as they really enjoyed it last time

Nothing to add here that hasn't already been said really, had a great weekend overall.

Totally agree about the Saturday DJ thing though, I did assume he was drunk, the one or two songs that weren't terrible kept skipping. Then he starts singing along to Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling, which was bad enough but the lyrics seemed to be hit and miss too. Then songs that were ripped from the radio so at the end you'd here 'That was the latest record from Alexandra Burke on the radio for the first time!' I think in future, might be best for someone just to politely take over when the DJ is obviously that bad.

Don't get me wrong, I won't be cancelling my subscription, still had a fab weekend look forward to many more.

    That really is surprising.
I am surprised at Ceroc using someone like that, especially for a weekender.
Surely no self respecting DJ,would rip tracks direct from the radio. Are you sure?

So were we but the answer is to wipe all the surfaces down with washing up liquid - they don't like that and didn't come back all w/e, especially after we gave them your chalet number and told them you were a Buddhist...

Absolutely never in my case. It's CD or paid high quality downloads, or nothing. I wouldn't dream of using radio rips because 1. It's illegal, and 2. Radio playback is heavily compressed for people listening in cars, on cheap little radios, etc. i.e. it is NOT dancefloor suitable. That, and DJs talk over the records! But that still doesn't get round the fact that it's just purely illegal!

Radio ripping is the resort of the hack DJ who compulsively has to play the latest tracks but who doesn't have any credibility or knowledge on how to get involved in the promo circuit.

And honestly, where dancing is concerned, is it really that important to have the newest tracks 1 or 2 weeks early? I mean, most people won't even know what the song is!

Anyway, it's becoming less an issue now anyway because most music is release "on air, on sale" in an effort to avoid piracy.

I'm sure the DJ wasn't the one who ripped it, but it was definitely an illegal download. I only recognised it because I have the same copy of the song which I downloaded from Limewire (yes I know, it's terrible of me) - my copy has the same annoying DJs in it.

You can hear the exact version he played here:

At the 3:08 mark the DJ jumps in with 'YEAAAH! New single from Alexandra Burke...etc'.

Anyway, point was, he was lame.
