Good
- Friday late afternoon / early eve in the bar seeing more and more of my favourite dancers arrive.. Just knew it was set to be a fantastic weekend… and it so was J.
- So lovely to dance again with some amazing dancers that live far away, so I rarely get to dance with them - that’s probably the best thing of all
- Discovering new brilliantly fun people to dance with
- Finally, after 3 years, sussing the sleep deprivation/pain issues and feeling great all weekend long
- Dancing outside on Sunday afternoon in the sunshine – just magic. And it was nice the pod had collapsed as that gave a second al fresco dancefloor!!
- Maya’s barbeque on Saturday night – not dampened at all by the weather, What a great lady she is.
- Having painted windows & new bath in the chalet – so didn’t have to be squeamish about mould.
- The smoothest drive there and back ever ( only 3.5 hours from Cheltenham on the Friday – took 5.5 last year!)
Bad
· It rained and was chilly. Luckily I had 3 duvets and 2 hot water bottles.. Hate to think how I’d have coped otherwise!
· A few people who I always love to see at weekenders weren’t there this time L
My thoughts re:
- Overcrowding. Yes the bar was packed at peak hours which compromised the dancing. However, I ventured into the cyclone room and found lots of blues dancers enjoying a fab set by Rocky fb John Baker and the music wasn't so west coasty either. So I stayed there and had a great time, after which, the bar was civilised again..
- The igloo. Presumably it was provided following feedback we’d like more space to dance in the day when workshops are on. I guess they’ll listen to feedback re chairs etc too and it’ll evolve. Guess there’s not much they can do about force 9 winds! At Southport, there is continuous daytime dancing anyway cos of the big bar. At Brean and Camber, it’ll probably be used a lot, especially when there are workshops in both main rooms. Once it’s full of great dancers and tunes, it’ll soon become much appreciated.
