Forward planning - forward even for me!

    I'm just wondering aloud here..

As the Olympic tickets go on sale shortly, I'm trying to decide on when to come down to the Big Smoke...

Part of this is obviously going to be determined by the timings of the sports that I'm interested in, but I would also like to fit in a bit of dancing.

So, does anyone know if there are going to be some freestyles planned, or will every free space be turned over to the Olympics?

As usual, Blues rooms will get extra brownie points

If it is way to early to give me dates, how long in advance do I have to wait, do you think??

(18 months in advance, yes I know, I'm being horrible organised - even for me )

The Olympics are in East London at Stratford. There is no dancing in that vicinity. There is however always something going on in London and the surrounding area.

Will you be able to have access to a car? If yes your choices for dancing will greatly improve, if not you can still jump on a tube to a few regular venues. Alternatively nearer the time there are quite a few of us who live quite nearby who may be willing to meet up with you and take you a bit further afield (including myself), depending on where you’ll be staying.

Suggest you don’t miss Berko if at all possible, if you enjoy a good blues room

White water rafting in the Lea Valley, Waltham Abbey (North London/Essex)?
There's a bit of dancing around here, plus transport into the city is pretty good, not to mention that the Lea goes right through the Olympic park and I suspect you'll be able to get water transport from here right into the park.

Whatever you decide though, book your accommodation now, there won't be any spare closer to the time. Anyone around here with a spare room is already rubbing their hands with greed!

I am seriously considering a homeswap - preferably with someone who lives somewhere in the Caribbean, Maldives, or anywhere sunny, really.

WT there are a lot of dances around that area or certainly near. It depends what your looking for. Once you know where your staying and when your coming, there will always be something you can travel too. Stratford is central and most venues are at most an hour away by train. x

Re: Forward planning - forward even for me!

    Thanks everyone..

Unfortunately I can't drive, but last time down I cracked the underground system, so it can no longer scare me ... I usually stay at St Pancras Youth Hostel when I am down as it is so well connected (no point in spending on the Ritz as I will be too busy being out ) but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a place. Not much point in booking until I know when exactly that I will be down.. I do want to go to some of the swimming events, and most of those are in the Olympic Park, but I'm not decided if those are the only things I want to bid for.

I will look up the details for Berko nearer the time after I see the results of the dates of my tickets.

Thanks for all the information so far..

    And take a deep breath

    Cheers WT
