I think it's well established that the Irish were making whisky before the Scots. Also that it was made elsewhere long before either of them, although the Irish invented it independently.

What I do thank the Scots for is whisky from Islay, which is surely what the gods on Olympus drank.

    A Scotsman who spells
    Whisky with a n ‘e’,
    should be hand cuffed
and thrown head first in the Dee.

    In the USA and Ireland,
    it’s spelt with an ‘e’
    but in Scotland
    it’s real ‘Whisky’.

    So if you see Whisky
    and it has an ‘e’,
    only take it,
if you get it for free!

For the name is not the same
    and it never will be,
a dram is only a real dram,
from a bottle of ‘Scotch Whisky’.

To address your beautifully laid out points...

    1. Drunkeness is not an exclusively Scottish problem, and our lassies are known to drink too.
    2. That'd be "The Krankies" - at least we can't claim the Chuckle Brothers.
    3. Haggis is excellent.
    4. Are you suggesting you would have something other than salt with Porridge?
    5. We do not have NYE programmes in Scotland, but our Hogmanay ones are certainly "full" of awe.
