Anyone else doing a photography "project"?

I have just started a photography project after being inspired by Gadget's Facebook image project where he was capturing a photograph every day.

I've just started (competed 1/52 weeks ) my 365 day project which I'm blogging (see links in signature to Flickr and My Blog) I was just wondering if anyone else is doing something similar?

We could set up a Ceroc Scotland Photography group on Flickr

Unfortunately as I'm no longer on Facebook I can't follow Gadget's progress.

Kudos to him though.. I blatantly ripped his idea off

This is going to be a tough challenge .. might need to come back to dancing .. if only for good photography material

Its a great idea but I don't think he invented it, I've seen this project on many Photographic forums

Sadly I'm not that disciplined but I'll enjoy viewing yours

No .. didn't for one moment think he invented it. But Kudos to him for starting the photo-a-day challenge himself.. and kudos for inspiring me

exceedingly. I developed a nasty rash. So deleted all the friends with names that included the letters "R","A","S" & "H", it didn't work.. I then deleted all the friends I had anything in common with, then all the friends I had little in common with, then all the friends I had nothing in common with, finally the friends I'd never actually met.

in the end I deleted myself.. it was easier and the rash cleared up.. so it worked

I'm not disciplined enough to do PAD, but I do like the idea of a Ceroc Scotland Flickr group for those of us who use Flickr - it would be a nice way to share our photos with each other.

As for the pic.. I'm surprised that , on a hot sunny day, you don't see loads of Londoner Homeless eating crispy roast duck directly under the focal point of that thing

actually on a semi serious note.. if the sun was in the right place I suspect that might pose a dazzle hazard to any overhead aircraft

(note to self.. next time I'm being chased by a police helicopter at night run in front of this thing!! )

If it is properly constructed then it's actually quite a dangerous structure. Although assuming that the orientation of the dish is fixed, it's probably only dangerous for a few minutes on a couple of days a year, and even then, only if the sun's shining.

Below is one of my favourite science videos of the moment.

I can't wait to see his next project, which will feature more mirrors and a larger dish.

The focal length is far too short to do that, although this project may interest you, which uses flat mirrors set on a very large radius (i.e. a small slice of an extremely shallow dish) to target an object only a few 10s of yards away.

Here's a bigger (though less destructive) variation:
