For those that enjoy dancing in their living room...

...this is easily the coolest thing to grace our homes since the invention of the gramophone.

I picked up a 'Kinect' add on for my Xbox360 and Dance Central game. I was initially curious as to whether it would work, but glad to say was not disappointed.

For the unaware, this is a camera that is able to track body movements, which is uses to teach dance moves and then score you against the computer or other 'opponents' online.

All I can say is this is VERY cool, it may be the reason I will be late for all future freestyles... It can track more than one of you, if you have the space - so this will be a feature of my pre NYE warmup.

I'll post a link once this BB lets me post links!!!

It's very interesting - I think this also could have a lot of potential.

Looking at the list of games, there's:
    • Zumba
    • Dance Central
    • Dance Paradise
    • Dance Evolution

The obvious idea is that you could produce a - for example - Ceroc dance tutorial using this one. For teaching choreography, this would be ideal.

And conceivably, it might even help with technique - "No, don't yank your partner, lead her gently!" for example.

Of course it's not just 'dance' games, but I did walk away with 'Dance Central' which I thoroughly recommend for all those 'Dad dancers' out there who want to practice before the next wedding...

How does it compare to the frankly atrocious "Just Dance" for the Wii, which I now pull out only when drunk friends are in the house?

I still have DDR for the original xbox. Good exercise, that one.

There was no need for that 'probably'

Much Much better. We got a kinect for my Son for xmas. Wasn't expecting much but am now really impressed with it.

Looking at getting Fitness Evolved in the next couple of weeks. Played the demo and it is so so much better than Wi-Fit (which is now gathering dust).

The only downside is his bedroom is upstairs and when he plays on it, there is lots of jumping.
