Tender for new WCS class (Herts)

Tenders are invited by Jive Lad Associates for a new WCS class in St. Albans.

    The requirements are as follows:

    1. The class will be held on Tuesday nights
    2. Entrance fee not exceeding £10
    3. Within 5 minutes walk of central St. Albans
    4. The hall will be large enough to accommodate 150 dancers comfortably.
    5. Beginners classes will be executed by experienced teachers - but not necessarily experts in the form
    6. Teachers will spend time individually with students and help technique and improvement
    7. Teachers will refresh from the start and be patient with the beginners
    8. The teachers will not try and show any intermediate/advanced moves for the first 6 months of the lessons
    9. Teachers will also be available for 1:1 private lessons as required
    10. Music will be appropriate to the form and delivered through a high quality sound system
    11. Classes to start January 2011

All replies to Jive Lad Associates, St. Albans.

    PLEASE!!

My thoughts as well - less than 1/2 hour from St Albans (nearer an hour for me) and he does concentrate the first 1/2 of the lesson on beginners. Having said that I have not been for over a year

So get your passport out and leave the borders of St Albans, there is a whole world out there, just waiting to be explored

You are correct - I don't do much WCS. In fact I have done zilch (apart from 1 lesson on Saturday).

The requirements criteria are tongue-in-cheek.....I just feel there is strong demand for WCS classes in this area. Kevin did do some teaching at ijig for 6 weeks: it would be great if something could be arranged on a more permanent basis in this area.

Blimey, I thought you'd be an expert by now

Yes, I remember - his classes were packed, although the numbers dropped off over time; no reflection on Kev, of course, that's just what happens.

Why not suggest it to iJig?

Yes - that had occured to me: maybe do it on a small scale under the ijig banner - on a different nite from Wed. It would continue the excellent contribution they have made to dance in this area.

Maybe I'll mention it to Pat tonite...... I also have an idea of getting say half a dozen people and doing it chez Jive Lad at some point.

    PS I am an expert........
.....at watching WCS on YouTube and going "where are the triple steps? - c'mon - you can't do it without triple steps; just 'cos you're a 5 times champion doesn't mean you can omit them; pleeeez - do some triples....you gotta do 'em it says so in the book...."

I'll bet they've been smiling too. No triples and smiling - I know there's some WCS teachers who would look down their noses at such antics

Sounds like a total expert opinion to me.

The other thing I learnt last night is that if I do go to the WCS 'dark side', I will have to invest in shed loads of talcum powder.

Well, that's my Xmas present sorted then.

(Is there and Armani talc sutable for Jive Lad? )

I know your list of requirements was tongue in cheek but seriously, instead of waiting for it to come to your doorstep travel the 12.9 miles (according to Google Maps) and support Kev in Finchley. That way you'll elevate yourself above the predictable Andy M into being an informed commentator on WCS I'd love to be within <20 miles of weekly WCS, hell <30 miles even.

No idea what this talc thing is all about - I've seen and felt way more talc'ed floors at MJ events than WCS

Oh, and do you base your idea of sex on what you see in porn? You Tube Champions WCS bears about as much relation to the social dancefloor as porn does to most people's bedrooms.

I mean, how many people actually have a midget tied up in their wardrobe?

I hadn't realised that was a requirement of WCS?
